Get your arses out of London. London isn't Britain, you're ignoring millions of indigenous people in Northern Britain in favour of immigrant propoganda. The BBC wasn't set up to promote foreigners over the people who have always been here and ignored by the liberal mafia.

This was great reporting by BBC of how people from different walks of life were living during the coronavirus situation. This is the type of news I like which I don't get to see on CNN since they are more focused on politicizing the virus and how the government is handling it.

  25. @mustaphaguendouz1363

    January 10, 2024 at 2:00 am

It looks like there's a considerable number of commentators here who seem to ignore that BBC has an Arabic channel, like Russians' RT, Chinese CGTN, German DW, French FR24, and many more, I wouldn't be able to name all of them and this film was intended for the Arab viewers all over the world in the first place. Despite all of these negative comments and hate speech, and the bad image that it may reflect…
I still believe British people are smarter and more civilised better than anywhere in the world. This film shows to the world how everyone in Britain is playing his/her part. Everyone is involved. I am proud to be British. Britain has always been open and multicultural for ages…! I wish that those racist haters realise that sometimes an immigrant fixes their home plumber, painter, carpenter, electrician, or anything else. Who drives them home who fixes their cars or their bikes who holds their kids and take care of them in nurseries who cares for them in hospitals, clinics and surgeries who pays taxes sometimes even more than those who are opening their mouths and relying on benefits. Imagine how life will be if all immigrants decide to stay at home for just one day. All immigrants from business managers and bank managers to the one who brings you your takeaway. Just imagine! A complete paralysis.

  28. @Loxworth

    January 10, 2024 at 2:00 am

What was the point of focusing on the arabic-speaking community, instead of just the essential worker-community as a whole? With a report like this that is focusing on something so specific, I was expecting the BBC to mention how the arabic-speaking community is stronger affected by COVID due to their culture. But nope, the BBC would rather waste 7½ minutes of people's lives instead.

Is another deadly flood coming to Nepal? | BBC News

Published

on

China has warned there is a “high risk” that a lake which formed after the recent landslide near the Nepal-Tibet border may breach its banks, causing a second flood downstream.

The warning comes after Wednesday’s deadly flash flood in the same area which has killed more than 500.

Scientists say it was triggered by the collapse of a mountain glacier into a river.

Did Emily ruin Paris? | The Global Story

Published

on

The Netflix show Emily in Paris has been lauded by French President Emmanuel Macron, who presented its creator, Darren Star, with the prestigious Légion d’Honneur last year.

“You make France shine across the world,” Macron said.

Many critics disagree. The programme, about a hapless American marketing executive living a glamorous and romantic fantasy in the French capital, is due to return for its sixth and final season later this year.

Some Parisians have complained that the series is full of cliches. And they worry that the tourism boost created by the show is changing the city they live in.

How do blockbuster TV series and iconic films reshape our cities, for better or worse?

The Global Story host, Tristan Redman, heads to the fifth arrondissement, while producers Hannah Moore and Xandra Ellin get the picture in London and New York.

Carney stands up to Trump | The Global Story

Published

on

Canada recently walked away from trade talks with the US hours before Donald Trump’s deadline to impose major tariffs on Canadian goods.

Prime Minister Mark Carney struck a defiant tone, acknowledging that Canada was now locked in a trade war with the US.

He also announced retaliatory tariffs, pledging to match US tariffs “dollar for dollar”.

Carney’s tough stance is popular at home, but will it come at a price?

We speak to Jayme Poisson, host of the CBC podcast Front Burner, about whether Carney is taking a big political gamble by standing up to Trump’s tariffs – and why many Canadians feel confident they can withstand a trade war with their southern neighbour.
