WHO warns pandemic will drag on deep into 2022 – BBC News
The Covid pandemic will “go on for a year longer than it needs to” because poorer countries are not getting the vaccines they need, the World Health Organization (WHO) says.
Dr Bruce Aylward, a senior leader at WHO, said it meant the Covid crisis could “easily drag on deep into 2022”.
Less than 5% of Africa’s population have been vaccinated, compared to 40% on most other continents.
The UK has delivered more than 10 million vaccines to countries in need. It has pledged a total of 100 million.

The US said it has hit “dozens” of Iranian military targets in overnight attacks, in response to Iran hitting commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz.
The military said it struck “air-defense systems, coastal radar sites, missile and drone capabilities, and small boats”, using aircraft, ships, and drones – including “one-way attack sea drones for the first time”.
“The Strait of Hormuz is a vital maritime corridor for global trade,” the US military said. “Iran does not control it”.
In response, Iran said it targeted US bases in Jordan, Bahrain, and Kuwait and also radar systems in Oman.

President Donald Trump has said the US is reinstating a naval blockade of Iranian ports and will impose a 20% charge on all cargo shipped through the Strait of Hormuz following days of escalating strikes between the two countries.
He said this would stop “Iran’s ships or customers” from entering or leaving the key oil shipping route, but “all other countries will have fair and open use of the Strait”.
Iran’s foreign minister later said whoever provides safe passage “should be compensated for this service”, but Iran would remain the strait’s “GUARDIAN” – using Trump’s word.
Tehran and Washington clashed over the strait’s control after exchanging strikes in the region overnight and on Monday.
The US said it carried out strikes against military targets in Iran, targeting air defence systems, coastal radars, and missile and drone sites. Iran said it responded by striking US military bases in Kuwait, Jordan and Bahrain, and radars in Oman.

Explosions have been heard near two Iranian port cities, Bandar Abbas and Bushehr, state media has reported.
It comes after another night of strikes between the US and Iran, with Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps saying it hit two UAE tankers in the Strait of Hormuz and targeted US facilities in Jordan and Bahrain.
The UAE called the attack “brazen”, adding that an Indian crew member was killed and eight others were injured.
Meanwhile, the US military says it completed strikes on targets aimed at degrading “Iran’s ability to attack commercial shipping” – Iranian state media reports three people were killed.

The US military said it was carrying out a new wave of strikes on targets in Iran. It said the aim of the attacks was to degrade Iran’s ability to attack shipping in the strait of Hormuz. It came ass the US Navy resumed its blockade of Iran’s ports.
Iran said that control of the strait of Hormuz was required for its national security and it will exercise sovereignty over the key shipping lane, whatever the cost.
President Trump announced that he was scrapping a plan he had announced a day earlier, for placing a 20% toll or tariff on all cargos passing through the strait of Hormuz.

The words in the treaty pretty much say: States (countries) who are having problems complying with WHO mandates may ask for assistance in the form of "mobilize international assistance". This sounds like an organized independent military put in place to round up non conforming citizens…and countries will let it happen.

We are going to be waiting for years. The freaking political figures have not figured out that car or air travel between cities or continents, respectively, might not be a good idea right now. It is hard to gauge how dangerous this virus is when the people with the most money don't seem to care about spreading this supposed nasty bug while the rest of us are hunkered down in our domiciles awaiting an end that may never come.

Parts of india like utar pradesh are just fine – with early on treatments, cheap, effective and evidence proven = gone the scientific way. Other parts of india, like tamil naido, did not, and so the best practice way is statistically hidden to western world, as it is always india as a whole in media.

I work in a childcare and there hasn’t been a week go by that there’s at least two to three children in with coughs or a runny nose but as they’re under the age of they don’t need to be tested for Covid, so in my mind that tells me we all should be getting on with this virus and learn to live with it and build up our natural immune systems to it! At the peak of this virus can someone tell how we were seeing some medical staff posting dance routines on social media platforms 🤷🏻♀️ Also have people turned a blind eye to all the lies and fear mongering that the politicians and media have been spouting off since the start of this pandemic in March of 2020! I’m not against people having or not having the vaccine, I just feel that it should be a choice not something to be force on people especially as when it was first brought out that it was an option if you wanted to have it or not now countries are having restrictions put in place AGAIN! It’s definitely all about controlling how people live their lives and the ones making the most of all of this are the pharmaceutical companies and anyone who’s trying to enforce this vaccine onto people it’s all so wrong!!!
