UK announces record Covid deaths as hospitals “overwhelmed” – BBC News
The United Kingdom has recorded 1,610 Covid deaths in a single day — the highest number since the pandemic struck last year.
Experts say it’s likely that even higher figures will be reported in the coming weeks. The Faculty of Intensive Care Medicine say that many hospitals are “overwhelmed” with some staff “almost on their knees” after many months treating desperately ill patients.
The number of new infections is beginning to fall and more people are receiving vaccinations.

Explosions have been heard near two Iranian port cities, Bandar Abbas and Bushehr, state media has reported.
It comes after another night of strikes between the US and Iran, with Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps saying it hit two UAE tankers in the Strait of Hormuz and targeted US facilities in Jordan and Bahrain.
The UAE called the attack “brazen”, adding that an Indian crew member was killed and eight others were injured.
Meanwhile, the US military says it completed strikes on targets aimed at degrading “Iran’s ability to attack commercial shipping” – Iranian state media reports three people were killed.

The US military said it was carrying out a new wave of strikes on targets in Iran. It said the aim of the attacks was to degrade Iran’s ability to attack shipping in the strait of Hormuz. It came ass the US Navy resumed its blockade of Iran’s ports.
Iran said that control of the strait of Hormuz was required for its national security and it will exercise sovereignty over the key shipping lane, whatever the cost.
President Trump announced that he was scrapping a plan he had announced a day earlier, for placing a 20% toll or tariff on all cargos passing through the strait of Hormuz.

President Donald Trump has reversed his threat of a 20% fee on all Strait of Hormuz cargo shipping, as the US battles to break Iran’s hold on the waterway.
He said the toll would be replaced by trade and investment deals with Gulf states, just hours before the US resumes a blockade of Iranian ports.
It follows renewed strikes between the US and Iran, which triggered a sharp rise in oil prices as tanker traffic through the Strait has virtually stalled.

Last year I worked on all the extra hospitals that were set up to deal with all the high demand of Covid 19 patients. They were hardly used at all , a big waste of tax payers money.
Why don't we still have these hospitals to deal with the increased amount of patients.
Was it all just a big waste of money and effort.

How about the thousands of deaths from coronavirus contracted in the NHS, my father was tested negative twice then contracted it 9 days later and died in February. The NHS tried to lie about where he contracted it , it was impossible to get any truth from doctors.
What about Margate letting visitors into the cardiac ward to infect most there with Covid, definitely 4 deaths of people who had been recovering well from heart surgery.
Huge respect for the front line staff, but the NHS management teams failed again with thousands of preventable deaths on their hands. They had loads of offers to bring in isolation techniques from the asbestos industry and just sat on their arses counting pennies.
The NHS needs a complete overhaul now

Actually, you can use radiation to kill all the bacteria and anything else in the body. It's called eradiating that body. Once the meat cadaver is eradicated, it can be placed into a sterile plastic bag and stacked anywhere. It cannot rot, because this roting, requires bacteria. Rats would eat them instantly, if they find the stacks of them, but, refrigerantion would not be required. All the virus called a fomite dies in 4 days on the body. Virus needs living cells to replicate and the bodies are dead. The eradiating of the cadaver would also kill any virus. They would be safe to store without fear of spreading the plague from dead animals, unless, the bagged air tight seal is broken, and bacteria get back onto the dead cadaver, from a mouse or rat.
