Gaza protest violence: Death toll rises to 43 – BBC News
At least 43 Palestinians have been killed and 2,200 wounded by Israeli troops, Palestinian officials say, on the deadliest day of violence since the 2014 Gaza war.
The violence came as the US opened its embassy in Jerusalem, a move that has infuriated Palestinians.
They see it as clear US backing for Israeli rule over the whole city, whose eastern part Palestinians lay claim to.
But US President Donald Trump hailed the move in a video message.
He told the dedication ceremony that it had been a “long time coming”, adding: “Israel is a sovereign nation with the right to determine its own capital but for many years we failed to acknowledge the obvious.”

The BBC has witnessed Israeli settlers attack Palestinians and set fire to olive trees in the occupied West Bank.
Several dozen settlers dressed in black charged down a hill near an outpost – illegal under Israeli and international law – to a field where Palestinians and activists were harvesting olives. They torched about a dozen trees and hurled stones from slingshots.
Washington Post photographer Heidi Levine, who was at the scene, was taken to hospital where she told reporters she “got jumped” and described being kicked on the ground.
The UN says the past two weeks have already seen more attacks by violent Israeli settlers than during the entire harvest season last year. It says this year levels of settler violence have reached an all-time high.

This week tens of thousands of young people have taken to the streets of Delhi, India’s capital, demanding changes to the electoral system and the resignation of the country’s electoral commissioner. Thousands have been detained by police in the process.
They represent the ‘cockroach’ movement, a grassroots campaign group started by a Boston University graduate in protest at government policies and high youth unemployment. How did a movement that started as a meme capture the minds of India’s young people, and start to pose a challenge to its long-serving prime minister, Narendra Modi?

A few things need to be explained about protesting. It can be done peacefully, even if there are angry words, declarations of “death to so and so etc…” the second someone who is protesting starts throwing stones with the intent of harm it is no longer peaceful. Killing PEACEFUL protestors is shameful, it’s murder. Killing violent ones is security. Protest peacefully and you won’t be shot

Over the years we only received news that is symphatic towards Palestinians.I have seen reporters that stand near Palestinians and their own videomaterial show the violence committed by Palestinians, yet they criticise Israel(as if Israel is the criminals).Is the rest of the world blind?Since when have a stonethrower the right to live?How can we trust such biased/unfair reporters.Shame on you!
