HSBC more than doubles profits as interest rates soar

Bank says it earned £17bn in the first half and will hand more money back to shareholders. This is the real banking scandal. Any thoughts Farage & Davis ?

Sunak is a W.E.F puppet. Davis knows this. Hunt is a W.E.F Chinese Communist Party Zealot. Davis knows this too.
Sorry Mr Davis you are part of the problem despite your rhetoric on this issue.I don't trust you because you have shown in recent times you're not to be trusted like almost all the MPS in the House of Traitors.

They do. No wonder that Brexit is such a disaster if he was in charge. It’s based on an EU law which has not been changed since we left. 😂

As a small business owner, cash saves you the expense of transactions fees for card payments. It also allows you INSTANT access to your funds without having to wait for the card/bank processors to transfer your revenue into your bank account. Having cash at the end of the day allows you to pay your employees (if you pay them daily) and allows you to pay your wholesalers/suppliers without having to maintain a reserve account. CASH IS KING for the small merchant.

The debanking scandal is no surprise given the wokery permeating the banking industry.

We need a global campaign to be able to exist freely as human beings on planet earth without being completely dependent on banks to survive. The fact we are all already completely dependent on banks to function normally in society is a huge concern and a grave threat to all our future freedoms and rights in future times. Do not beg for your right to be a part of the banking industry, campaign to be allowed to live freely of it.

True "every Brit [everyone should have that right] should have a legal right to a bank account" but I guarantee it will be totally meaningless if you allow any form of Central Bank Digital Currency. At ANY time for ANY reason ANY government official can render your money NULL and VOID just like the tyrant Pierre Trudeau did in Canada with the Canadian Truckers. One man, a stroke of a pen and the Trucker's money was useless. Without cash, freedom is impossible.

Many issues here, the govt needs to put immediate legislation in place to safeguard cash users, and make it lawful for banks to provide accounts – unless the person is a criminal / drug dealer / money launderer etc! I'm all for using cash, but I also like the choice to pay by card! Where current 'card only' machines are there, these should be banned, and supermarkets, rail networks, car parks, busses etc should be made to provide cash AND card machines. The likes of Starbucks also need legislating against, they can kiss my ass, if they won’t take 'legal tender' they can get stuffed, I'll just go somewhere else.

David Davis is the prime minister we should have had in stead of that vacuous clown Cameron! He holds to tory values and knows what the people want and need! Next to him Sunak is only the junior tea boy!

  31. @johnswift1736

    January 9, 2024 at 9:34 am

How could they have a lock down if they have no bank account!

  32. @johnmoncrieff3034

    January 9, 2024 at 9:34 am

Why does the government put pressure on the banks by telling them they will have their licences suspended or even cancelled if the do not allow everyone to have an account. Cash is the legal currency so they must deal in it and allows every individual to carry on their business without having to a credit/debit card!

  33. @ChristinePollock-sr6nk

Money is legal tender of this country. What right have the banks to try and hamstring/stop the use of money. If the banks try and strong arm the government….government should bring back the National Giro Bank.

Zia Yusuf delivers a scathing critique of both the Conservative and Labour parties, accusing them of failing the British public on immigration and foreign aid. In this explosive segment, the Reform UK Home Affairs spokesperson claims the country has experienced “the biggest wave of untrammelled mass immigration ever seen,” placing the blame squarely on successive governments.

Yusuf outlines why Reform UK is launching a new inquiry into what he calls the “Boriswave,” arguing that border policies under recent leadership have left the UK exposed. He raises concerns about public safety, national priorities, and whether the current system is truly serving the interests of the British people.

In this week’s Chopper’s Political Podcast, Christopher Hope is joined by Tom Harwood and Katherine Forster to examine the growing debate around the UK state pension and the “triple lock.”

With Reform UK now joining other major parties in backing the policy, the discussion explores why the triple lock remains politically untouchable, despite rising concerns over its long-term cost. The panel breaks down how the system works, why it was introduced, and how it has helped reduce pensioner poverty, while also raising questions about fairness between generations.

They also look at the mounting financial pressures facing the UK, including the rising cost of pensions, slow economic growth, and an ageing population. Could the triple lock become unsustainable in the future? And if so, what alternatives might be considered?
