Wildfires burn through record area in California as blazes continue to spread – BBC News
Wildfires have burned through a record number of acres in California this year as firefighters continue to battle several large blazes across the state.
The state’s department of forestry and fire protection, Cal Fire, says more than two million acres have burned, more than the size of Delaware.
One fire, El Dorado, which has spread over 7,000 acres, was started by a gender reveal party, officials say.
California is currently experiencing a record heatwave.
Los Angeles County reported its highest ever temperature of 49.4C (121F) on Sunday. Although temperatures are expected to drop from Tuesday onwards it may bring strong winds which could fan the flames, the National Weather Service warns.

Tens of thousands of organisations have been caught out by a computer virus called WannaCry. The malicious software locks data away and demands a payment of up to $300 (£230) a time before it will restore scrambled files. In the UK, many hospitals fell victim and some health organisations diverted ambulances and cancelled non-essential services as they sought to contain and clean up the infection. Infections in more than 99 nations are being reported by security firms. It appears that the hardest hit are Russia and Spain.

people I think the end is near.. I hate to admit it but this is it.. there’s been a ton of foolings in China causing damages to there crops causing food shortages and California there’s hella wild fires like I think God is really coming and we really need to repent cause it might be to late.. this stuff scares me but Yk I know I need to have a relationship with the lord and turn from sin and we all do he loves each and every one of you. The inept government, political and regulatory policies of California have clearly driven the present forest management calamitous conditions with that failure leading to disastrous wildfires throughout the state.
Those government and political leaders that are responsible for this situation that has been decades in the making have tried to conceal their incompetence by making scientifically unsupported propaganda claims that “climate change” caused this situation. These government driven problems are clearly identified in two recent reports – one by Cal Fire and the other by the California Legislative Analysts Office.
