This lady is living in her own Wonderland and dreams she's playing the rôle of Alice and can magic away the self-inflicted barriers and the huge swathe of official forms and declarations thrown up by Brexit.Charm goes a long way but she forgets she is dealing with hard headed business people, not kiddies in diapers.

The five 'principles' she's dreamed up are laudable but hollow: the myriad problems of Brexit aren't going to disappear of their own accord. We've left the club Ms Badenoch and there's only one way back in. We've abandoned the world's third biggest trade body right on our doorstep and it can't be replaced by wishful thinking, even in the cloud cuckoo land you inhabit. We are now ranked as a 'Third Country' and you are kidding yourself if you think there's an alternative to going cap in hand to our former partners if we want to trade with them. Brexit has hobbled the country.

Her recent self-trumpeted 'momentous trade deal' with Italy is a in fact a momentous con. Ms Badenoch claims she will swing deals with Italy but she conveniently forgets (if she knew it in the first place) that EU rules prevent her doing external trade deals with individual member states. That's why it's called the EU. She's not being straight with us.

Shimmy up Mr Sunak's rope if you like but don't be surprised when you find there's nothing holding it up.

No amount of platitudes, hand-gestures and smooth talking will get you there Ms Badenoch: fine words butter no parsnips.

What a shame this sweet but inexperienced lady will have to come to her senses. She'll just have to find better advisers, get real and learn "Realpolitik" the hard way.

It is morally wrong to raise people's hopes with your empty idealogies and undeliverable promises, Ms Badenoch, only to dash them again when your house of cards collapses.

Now that some departments have disappeared it is timely to reduced the number of civil servants, starting with the 91000 that Boris Johnson pledged to get rid off when he was still PM: the permanent secretaries of the Home Office and Border Forces should be the first to be sacked to ensure that the Home Secretary does her job without unnecessary interference from them.

Interesting why people who have 'roots' from elsewhere can value (and constructively critique) the UK and aspire to improve it. A large slab of the UK (and other lucky countries) seem intent on self- immolation.?

At what point did the Conservative Party adopt net zero as their agenda because it wasn't there in the last election and NO ONE voted for it.

Where are the new homes going to be built? On desperately needed agricultural land (we have too low food security as it is), or uninsurable houses on a river flood plane in a time of global warming?

Published

Watch as Will Kensington expresses concern about the state of the UK, arguing that Downing Street is no longer a place of power but has instead become Britain’s most expensive Airbnb.

This comes as Andy Burnham is set to become the UK’s seventh Prime Minister in a decade, with seemingly no one challenging the “King of the North” for the country’s top job.
