The challenge to social: media and the internet more generally to make a positive contribution to democracy are manifold and includes but not restricted to, the algorithms of big tech, they’re reliance upon advertisers, access to identifiable posts by employers and the political sensitivity of employers, attempts to sensor, the inability to identify who is speaking on the internet, the tendency of people toward confirmation bias, the fact that some sections lack access, the money, interest or the skills to use the internet.
