Divide and conquer all the unions should have stuck together

It is quite ridiculous that medical staff have a Union at all, let alone the option of withdrawing their Labour. This is simply a case of nursing staff holding the public to random. This, surely, is unacceptable behaviour from a body of people on which sick people depend. Unions are, quite frankly, an outdated and disruptive body.

The Unions have agreed to the deal & therefore the Government will then proceed with it. That is not IMPOSING

Dont get me wrong, in these times we all need a pay rise, to cope with the bills comming in, but these economic times have been allowed to happen because of people like the nurses and doctors in the NHS, not speaking up as to the reality of what was really happening in the hospitals.
The stats released by our Gov, had no resembelence as to what was happening on the ground, and if they cannot speak up in order to protect lives, they are not someone I wish to look after me.
There are good people there Im sure, but at no point should any political body be able to overrule the absolute medical needs of the patient
Clap for the NHS…… Most I wish a dose of given

Tiffa Well you do actually, trains drivers, teachers, postal workers, passport office, there have been numerous strikes.

There are 704,520 Nurses on the permanent NMC register in the UK as of March 2022. Which is a sizable "RUMP"
Nurses per 1000 UK inhabitants 8.9 down from 9.6 in 2005. Finland 22.2, France 11.8. Germany14.2. Nurses pay has dropped 10.2% in real terms since 2010/2011
Doctors per 1000 UK inhabitants 2.9. OECD/EU average is 3.7. Gov would need to recruit 46,300 doctors to bring it up to the OECD level in ENGLAND alone. 8728 vacancies for doctors unfilled. At the current rate of inflation, 2022/2023 junior doctors' pay will have dropped £9500 in real terms from 2010/2011. So from the above stats the doctors and nurses are underpaid and overworked and the Tories consider this FAIR as do some of the idiots who have posted here

UK MP's salary is £86,584 pa. plus uplift for being a minister of state circa £70,000. Expenses claimed in 2022 average out at £212,819 per MP. At least 200 of the 650 MP's, mainly conservative, have "SECOND JOBS" earning up to £1,000,000 pa. But the miserly deal is a "FAIR and REASONABLE" settlement which is about par for a Tory definition of fair and reasonable. Instead of the ire and ignorant invective aimed at the doctors and nurses aim it where should be at a government who have systematically underinvested and privatised the NHS for decades.

Maybe Cobra Snake Sunak wife Non-Dom evaded £250M tax on Snake Sunak Dowry should be donated to pay Nurses on Band 5-7 a sum of £5000 and give Nurses "Non-Dom" Tax Free Salaries.

I could not imagine the stresses of being a nurse for that awful pay, I get just as much working from home. The way we treat healthworkers in this country is a joke

We realy need a good health care system, however a little honesty from them would have not gone amiss, in the days of "clap for the NHS", when most of the honest nurses will tell you, they had very little to do, and many were sent home.

  18. @tiffa01

    January 6, 2024 at 5:54 am

Boo hoo the nurses . You chose the job . Don't see other lines of work moaning.

  19. @Hangman1

    January 6, 2024 at 5:54 am

And rest of the ppl ? Personally i dont give a fuck about English nurses because i dont use NHS … its to slow and there are no good nurses and doctors there. But i use rail and making shopping like every person … give this ppl money rise!!!! If you hang prince charles on sunday you will have enough money for important things … not another useless monarch

  20. @michaelwhite6140

    January 6, 2024 at 5:54 am

Now get back to work and get those list down and the rest of you still on strike except and get on with it we're all sick of it literally!

  21. @manofbeard

    January 6, 2024 at 5:54 am

I care nought for nurses and their pay rises. I haven’t forgotten their treacherous treatment of people during the lockdown.

  22. @nobbycheeseman2915

    January 6, 2024 at 5:54 am

Create a 2 tier NHS care system. Anyone who has been against the nurses getting the pay rise they deserve, get a basic level of care, one that would be provided by someone who can't afford soap to wash their hands with and is too tired to focus properly, and those who supported it get the care of someone who has had plenty of downtime to prepare themselves mentally for the surgery or other care, is clean and happy because they aren't stressed about not being about to afford bills and food.

  26. @Biffo1262

    January 6, 2024 at 5:54 am

If those supporting the nurses would care to actually check their pay scales you will see they have excellent rates of pay. If they say it isn't just about pay then why are they punishing patients. Striking is not the way to improve conditions for patients. The nurses are basically making sure they get their share of the cake first. They saw an opportunity after all the Covid goodwill and decided to exploit it. It has backfired. Goodwill only stretches so far. Public support is waning….fast. My sympathy lies with those poor sods trying to exist on minimum wage and junior doctors who are grossly underpaid and exploited. Compared to them the nurses are in Utopia.
