Nigel Farage has won the Clacton by-election, the vote he has long described as a “people vs Establishment” contest.
Shortly after 6am, Mr Farage was confirmed to have returned to the House of Commons.
He secured 22,239 votes while his closest rival, a satirical candidate named Count Binface, received 9,455.
The other main Westminster parties boycotted the by-election entirely, though Mr Farage could face them in a potential second vote at a later date.
Mr Farage resigned as an MP to trigger the contest at the start of July amid a probe by the parliamentary standards commissioner over a £5million gift he received before becoming an MP.

What a bunch of self-righttpous prigs. What business is of yours that some Davos participants use the servces of escorts? Would you be be so judgemental if the girls were NOT being paid? If the girls are willing and feel the price the men pay is fair, then who made you judge and jury to condemn either of them?? Is the behaviour of eithert party affecting or hurting you? A few things I would like to put to Klaus, who voted you in, who made you leader of the world, what gives you the right to decide for us better or worse? The shear arrogance of these people, and they are just people is outstanding. They got away with Covid-19 and its restrictions but this will fail. Decriminalising prostitution has been a government initiative in so many western countries now, that previously lived by godly standards and protected women.
