Coronavirus in a devolved UK: England – BBC News

Published

on

The four nations of the UK have each had strikingly different responses to the coronavirus crisis.

Devolution has meant different policies in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland – from easing lockdown, to whether masks and face coverings should be compulsory, to track and trace strategies.

Some regions of England have made some of their own decisions – independently of Westminster.

In one of a series of BBC News at Ten reports from each of the four nations, Reeta Chakrabarti has been to Sheffield in the north of England to ask if the recovery from the crisis is best handled locally.

Verdict of Court of appeal in Lisbon/Portugal: A PCR-test cannot detect a corona infection. People who are tested PCR-positive are not corona-infected and therefore must not be termed infected!

What a load of bollox , as if the crooked thieving government really care about ppls lives , they allow Rambo knives via amazon into our country when they know we have a prolific knife problem here , they’ve allowed cigarettes to be sold for centuries when they’ve known that smoking causes umpteen fatal illnesses through their greed , why don’t they report all the other flu deaths over the years , bad flus that’s killed off more than this covid nonsense , we should just let nature take its course & look after those that will be vulnerable to the virus 🦠 , there’s a hidden government agenda here , the lousy politicians came out after the brexit vote & said that they would have another referendum in a couple of years time when the older ones that voted for brexit was “ dead “ , anybody else think it’s strange how all those ppl in care homes contracted “ covid “ ? Look at how many ppl have died at home through suicides , cancer , strokes & heart attacks because the government have scarred them shitless to go too the hospital for treatment , every time you click the tv on straight away it’s talking about “ covid “ , isn’t anybody else getting the feeling that actually there is a human cull going down & nobody in the lame stream news is talking about it ? I wouldn’t trust any of these corrupt rats to flush a toilet properly after they’ve done their coke up their noses , most of the main operators are compromised by some deviancy they’ve been caught for in the past that’s why they seem like they’re not making sense , it’s because they work for they’re real puppet masters in the banks & big corporations , they’re all lying scum & have been described as running a mafia type operation over there in the Westmonster whorehouse by the top mafia investigator in Italy , facts , pedophiles in the palaces , top judges , top police officers , top social workers , that’s why they kept all those grooming gangs quite , it’s because they’re all in on it if you ask me , tell me , how else would it be made quite ?

Cyber Attack: Ransomware causing chaos globally – BBC News

Published

on

Tens of thousands of organisations have been caught out by a computer virus called WannaCry. The malicious software locks data away and demands a payment of up to $300 (£230) a time before it will restore scrambled files. In the UK, many hospitals fell victim and some health organisations diverted ambulances and cancelled non-essential services as they sought to contain and clean up the infection. Infections in more than 99 nations are being reported by security firms. It appears that the hardest hit are Russia and Spain.

Is this AI’s moment of truth? | BBC News

Published

on

A year ago, artificial intelligence was being sold as something close to science fiction — a technology that could transform society, cure disease, even reshape the global economy.

Today, the tone is changing. The companies leading the revolution are racing to the stock market — chasing billions in investment — while quietly confronting a much harder reality: AI is expensive, unpredictable, and far from profitable.

At the same time, some of the very people building this technology are warning we may be going too fast — even calling for a global pause.
And beyond Silicon Valley, a different story is emerging: growing public anxiety, political backlash, and the rise of what some are calling anti-AI populism.

So is AI entering its most pivotal moment yet — caught between financial pressure, technological risk, and political resistance?

AI Decoded Presenter Christian Fraser is joined by Financial Times AI Editor Madhumita Murgia, Thematic Strategist at Deutsche Bank Research Adrian Cox and Richard Coffin, Host of popular investing podcast ‘ The Plain Bagel’.
