The country is in a hell of a state. I don't believe the government are stupid, inept, idiotic. I can only assume it's a deliberate operation to degrade the country.

The war and the subsequent shortage of gas was completely predictable.
Any responsible government would have made preparations by increasing gas storage facilities and optimising national reliable energy sources.
This government has caused the energy crisis by replacing reliable sources of electricity generation with unreliable sources and shutting down coal fired power stations in preference to gas.
They have also consisyently stood in the way of increasing the UKs energy security by failing to support the fracking of gas and leaving us ever more reliant on imports.
They are now making it increasingly difficult for future North Sea oil and gas development by imposing swinging taxation on the companies involved in this process.
One increasingly wonders whose side they are on?

You made the Chief Secretary very nervous Camilla. Well done.

The BOE and Tories wanted to keep this housing bubble going by keeping interest rates very low. This is the early 90s all over again.

What happens after 6 months of being on interest-only payments. The economy will be in a much worse state by than.

  19. @doubleooh7337

    January 3, 2024 at 7:23 am

You're fools to even think they can stop inflation, their job is to manage the slow collapse, even at just 1% inflation a year thats STILL A INCREASE, when is it going to be -5% yearly? Even at 1% fast forwards into the future it eventually inflates everything beyond payable and wages NEVER GO UP WITH IT, so they are constantly stealing more and more of your money you're trying to earn.

Giving in to scumbag turds like Lynch and the unions on their over inflationary demands destroys nations ( just as Labour does every time they govern) By abolishing the Labour Party we will reduce inflation and the total destruction of our nation—FACT

Starmer will get voted in but willbe left the same impossible task

  39. @valleycommando6089

    January 3, 2024 at 7:23 am

Inflation pressures brought on by the government and BoE mismanagement- no growth higher taxes, higher inflation, higher cost of living. They are not serving the people who put them in power, but their self serving interests, the rich get richer, the poor, get poor

  40. @InArcadiaSum

    January 3, 2024 at 7:23 am

Right, so you "support families" by sticking £160/£170 Green Levy on them? These people are beyond stupid, with brains addled past redemption. Put a few quid into the "Speak Nonsense" machine like this suited droid, and get the spiel.

THIS IDIOT GLEN HAS HAD JUST A GRAD TRAINEES ROLE FOR THREE YEARS OVER THIRTY YEARS AGO.
NEVE RAHD A PROPER JOB, STRAIGHT INTO TORY POLITICS.
THE LUNATICS HAVE CHARGE OF THE ASYLUM – #UNT and SUNAK believe INCREASING TAXES INTO A RECESSION IS NOT INFLATIONARY. CHOKING OFF THE ECONOMY ON HIGHTAXATION TO REDUCE DEMAND IS NOT ECONOMIC MANAGEMENT.
'Supporting Families' ie INCREASED PUBLIC EXPENDITURE – Why not slash VAT on essentials and let people decide on their own expenditure and market responses will correct matters.

  49. @kenhamilton3248

good rule of thumb: when politicians say their priority is to do something their real priority is to do the opposite whilst figuring out how they can best hide/ manipulate people to think they are not.

Watch as Will Kensington expresses concern about the state of the UK, arguing that Downing Street is no longer a place of power but has instead become Britain’s most expensive Airbnb.

This comes as Andy Burnham is set to become the UK’s seventh Prime Minister in a decade, with seemingly no one challenging the “King of the North” for the country’s top job.
