Before we get a bunch of fragile white males defending lack of diversity in women’s game. The fact is 10 years ago the women’s England team was super diverse with 5 or 6 black players. Something has clearly happened in the last 10 years to dramatically decrease the number of black English players. The English FA are completely to blame for this. In 2012 they started the process of shutting the down the elite football schools for girls in the big diverse cities of London, Manchester, Birmingham, Liverpool and Leeds and reopening them in rural affluent areas outside of them. This completely change the make up of women’s football in the last decade. This has changed women’s football to be a white middle class girls sport because if you were working class and or black living I these big major cities, it suddenly became much more difficult to get elite coaching. But if you were a white middle class girl whose parents could afford your travel to academy outside the major cities or lived I the affluent white area where the academy was on your doorstep, you have a foot up and that is why the current England team is full of white middle class girls and 10 years who is was full of working class white girls and black girls.

Oh, I get it, so these people want ethnic minorities to be 2 to 3 times over represented compared with their numbers in the population as a whole. They quote the men's game as proof they are being shortchanged or 'discriminated against'. The men are massively over represented (in the premier league) compared with their numbers in the population and if they are being 'over represented', somebody else is losing their share. Who would that be and should it really matter? If it is quotas then Alex Scott and Co. better wind their necks in as they would see just 13% (at most) ethnic players in the squad, if going by population. This issue seems to be more about women like Alex Scott placing themselves front and centre of a drive to force white women to relinquish their dreams just so ethnic women, black women particularly, can realise their own. What about the Indian and other Asian women, Alex? You are always quick to call for black women, but other non-white women exist too? Here's a radical idea, what about going just for the talent?

The England team isn't meant to be diverse it's meant to be english

How diverse was the men's team when they actually won something? I have seen some African teams that are completely black it's so racist.

Black people comprise approximately 4% of the UK population. The women’s England football team has 9 white players and 2 black ones, equating to 18.18% of the team. That means black people are over represented by nearly five times what their proportion is of the UK population.

White menstruating disabled gmtb hitler youth is poorly represented by the game
I understand that the pig bladder thing may be an issue, another stuff, but tiddly winks may be a more inclusive sport and not sure why one takes sex into it when it suits, but leaves it out of the debate when it suites another debate.
There is far too little respect these days .

Not all bbc viewers do the football stuff, or the cricket, or the tennis
bbc viewers tend to pay for it though.
A little like paying for porn when one does not watch it..
So I guess anything the bbc puts out may suggest one willingly subscribes to a film of donkey sex?
I cannot recall seeing the option to unsubscribe .
Problem is, it is a bit of an institution to pay that in the UK regardless of the service.

So what did BBC Sport's Miriam Walker-Khan have to say exactly on diversity?
And what do others have to gob on about on the issue.

    Key points seem to be

    Colour..
    Race..
    Sex..

Absolutely no inclusion of disabled, the younger or older , or the GMTB .
God forbid one is of olive skin colour and has ginger hair.
So the person that mentioned white privilege over white in the sport seems to be so colour prejudiced they forgot about Yellow and Olive ?
At what stage does a thing get to be black or white is something the colour prejudiced tend to dominate intellect, but many fail to figure race from colour anyway.

no special needs or physicall disable players either…. they keep spewing about diversity… when reallity it is they don't care for diversity… just want to please the non white comunity

Notice british sports doesn't have any british asian brown male models on any of their teams, adverts or posters. British asians population are 9 million biggest non-white population in the country. Yet i never seen they been represented by this countries sports organisations. Strange! Wheres the diversity and representation? 😏

    January 2, 2024 at 7:07 pm

This is complete bs, should we play a full mixed race squad that aren’t the best players just to keep the work brigade happy

  11. @giodhuha6771

    January 2, 2024 at 7:07 pm

So Gareth Southgate is better than Sarina Wiegman in terms of players call-up just from the side of sustain diversity.

  12. @vo4068

    January 2, 2024 at 7:07 pm

The woke bbc are certainly pushing women’s football, all it needs now is for women to watch it, instead of watching all these “influencer’s” talking about make up & clothes!

  18. @caseykirby1284

    1. There were three players of colour besides Parris and Stokes, there’s also Jess Carter.
    2. Since when was Kieran Trippier a person of colour?

  25. @libbyyy

    January 2, 2024 at 7:07 pm

people in the comments could slightly be missing the point, of course people should be picked on talent but right now the reason for lack of ethnic diversity isnt't lack of talent, it's opportunities- people are at disadvantages going through the grassroots system, especially the women's grassroots system, because of their race and other contributing factors like financial privilege or area- people of colour haven't had fair opportunities, so them not being represented isn't their fault, it's the systems

  26. @rachelcarre06

    January 2, 2024 at 7:07 pm

This ain’t true. They’re picked because of how good they are not because of the colour of their skin. 😅

  27. @joannegriffiths1400

    January 2, 2024 at 7:07 pm

Why are they ignoring the fact that Paris, James, Stokes, Carter, Salmon, all play. This is ridiculous. You’re picked for your talent!

  28. @michaellabritt2235

    January 2, 2024 at 7:07 pm

Clearly no one watched it. If you look at other nations with similar demographics it’s clear that ethnic minorities can play. The issue here is not that we need to force the England manager to pick ethnic minorities whether they are good or not. It’s that football is no longer accessible. They moved a lot of the centres to leafy suburban areas that are difficult to access not just for players but for fans too. For me personally to watch a walk game it’s going to cost me £30 just for a train ticket and take well over an hour. So if you want to play imagine having to pay that everyday for training.

  29. @tomjarrett8290

    January 2, 2024 at 7:07 pm

Of the 23 players in the squad at Euro 2022, 3 were black which is 13%. The black population of England is 3.5%. How can you say black players aren’t represented?

  30. @thegoddess9847

    January 2, 2024 at 7:07 pm

I just like the sports that is why I watch but is true pure white women playing barely see black on the team and in world cup most black team don't even reach the next round racist exist and the reason I am not fighting is bcz my black ppl don't treat me good either so I don't care it confusing bcz some white ppl even treat me better than my own ppl so I don't care anymore bcz they don't treat there own black nice either

  31. @scottw.3258

    January 2, 2024 at 7:07 pm

You pick players based on ability, not on skin tone. Do you think they're having the same discussion in Nigeria, for example? No. Of course not. This woke nonsense has to end, because it's having a negative effect on the world in general.

  32. @Angenga

    January 2, 2024 at 7:07 pm

If it was really about "representation" then they would be fine with the 2 black girls in the 23 player squad for the euros, proportionally speaking that is an OVER-representation of the true number of the black population of England (by nearly 3 times)

  33. @markrowley2739

    January 2, 2024 at 7:07 pm

Not one down syndrome commentator on BBC sport….yet to see a BBC director General who is black and identifies as LGBTQ. Shame that the Beeb thinks black women footballers are so bad that they can't play for the national team on merit….

Odd that, it's almost as if your race baiting is just virtue signalling.

  34. @alexi.674

    January 2, 2024 at 7:07 pm

Damn, the United Kingdom really has an obsession and a fetish when it comes to skin colour. Apart from the US, I've never seen a country where such an emphasis is placed on such an irrelevant thing in the context of sport. "Yeah, you've won the Euros, but you're too… white" or "We should look past skin colour, the only thing that matters is how good you are. But we want 25% of our starting line-up to be black". They straight up admitted that professionalism can be sacrificed in the name of diversity. Imagine being an airline passenger only to find out at 30 000 ft that your pilot was hired for diversity. How are these people not realising that they're the ones who make everything about race…

  35. @scousersuk

    January 2, 2024 at 7:07 pm

do we need diversity in long distance running sports? yeah I can imagine that is not something you want to talk about right? no, because they are talented people it does not matter what skin colour they are.

  36. @scousersuk

    January 2, 2024 at 7:07 pm

BBC trying to get the womens team to be picked for a diversity tick sheet rather than talent level if we look at the mens game they are picked based on talent and look at the diversity that naturally has happened

  37. @zoranblackie5921

    January 2, 2024 at 7:07 pm

Feels like a lot of people are missing the point… noone is suggesting picking people based on race ahead of talent, its just indicative that there are potential barriers to access to the grass-roots and route to the top of the football pyramid. So if some of the best potential is not maximised, we're missing a trick… COME ON ENGLAND!

  38. @maxinejarvis4444

    January 2, 2024 at 7:07 pm

They need to be good to be picked end off

  39. @SatanicBeard

    January 2, 2024 at 7:07 pm

It’s a competitive sport, that’s the beginning and end of it. The colour of someone’s skin should only be a concern if they are being refused opportunities because of it, there has been no evidence of anything like that in this instance. To refuse someone else an opportunity they’ve earned to try and meet some arbitrary diversity benchmark is racist itself.

  40. @MrTeapotpixie

    January 2, 2024 at 7:07 pm

    Who cares?

  41. @shimonkrautwirt6615

    January 2, 2024 at 7:07 pm

If we start choosing players by colour I don't want to imagine the racisem that will happen every time they loose. we should choose only by skill. and every player who took part in this video owes an apology to serina wigman

  42. @Kentish9494

    January 2, 2024 at 7:07 pm

LOL good old BBC, never miss an oppotunity to be woke for woke's sake

Where's all the transwomen on the team? Whatever women can do, transwomen can do better.

  44. @euphoria477

    January 2, 2024 at 7:07 pm

Heaven knows why players should be picked for talent and not the colour of their skin. 😊

  45. @gregcord3886

It’s almost like we’re a cold country in north-western Europe!

  46. @fatknacker46

    January 2, 2024 at 7:07 pm

It's about talent. If you're good enough you should be playing, stop banging the diversity drum when these players WON the Euro's. If they filled the team with diverse players, who's betting it still wouldn't be enough…

  47. @walincoln7033
