Release of Israeli hostages delayed | BBC News
Israel has announced that a deal to release dozens of Israeli hostages held by Hamas has been delayed.
A temporary ceasefire which is supposed to come into force with the hostages’ release has also been delayed. Israel says negotiations are continuing with Hamas.
It had been expected that 50 of around 240 hostages held in Gaza would be released over four days with a truce taking place at the same time. In return around 150 Palestinian women and teenagers would be released from prison in Israel.

The Canadian province of Alberta has voted to reject a plan to hold a binding referendum on independence. Prime Minister Mark Carney said Albertans and all Canadians would move forward together with renewed purpose and high ambition.
Alberta is at the heart of Canada’s oil and gas industry. Separatist campaigners have argued that Alberta could be richer if it were an independent country. This comes amid a trade war with President Donald Trump – who has mused about Canada becoming the 51st US state.

Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky has said US intelligence sharing on deadly Russian missile attacks “works now” after talks with US President Donald Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff.
The meeting in Oslo came after accusations by Kyiv that Washington was withholding key intelligence – a claim rejected as “scandalous” by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
Finnish President Alexander Stubb, who also took part in the talks, said “genuine progress” was made on proposals to achieve peace but gave no details and warned that patience would be needed.
Relations between Ukraine and the US have soured in recent weeks to the extent that Trump has said it is time for Ukraine to get a new president, and most recently “for somebody else to negotiate on behalf of Ukraine”.

Why does the BBC keep on about Israel needing to extend the ceasefire. No comment that Hamas need to do that at all! Surely Hamas needs to make that declaration and stick to it. I heard a Jewish individual say something true. “if Hamas were to unilaterally lay down its arms tomorrow peace shall quickly follow. If Israel did the same there would be no Israel” (Ben Shapiro) also Hamas leaders declaring again there mission statement to eradicate Jewish people from the face of the planet! How do you negotiate with that? Agree to meet them half way?!?!?!!

You have no pleasure in sacrifices, otherwise I would have offered them; you have no pleasure in burnt offerings.
The sacrifice that God requires is a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise.

For the law is only a shadow and not the true image of the good things to come, and the same sacrifices offered year after year cannot always perfect those who come to it.
Otherwise, how would they not have ceased offering sacrifices, since those who served were purified once for all and would no longer recognize their sins?
But in these sacrifices there is a yearly remembrance of sin.
For the blood of bulls and goats cannot take away sin.
Therefore, when the Lord came into the world, he said, “ God did not desire sacrifice or offering, but a body he has prepared for me.”
Burnt offerings and sin offerings take no pleasure in him.
Then I said, “Look, O God, I have come to do your will, as it is written about me in the scroll of the book.”
For it was said above, ‘The Lord does not desire nor have any pleasure in sacrifices, offerings, burnt offerings, and sin offerings (all of which are offered according to the law).
Then he said, ‘Behold, I have come to do your will.’ He took away the first, that he might establish the second.
According to this will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all."
But there will be a fearful expectation of judgment and a fierce fire that will consume those who oppose.
If anyone who broke the law of Moses died without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses,
Consider how much more severe the punishment will be to the one who trampled under foot the Son of God, and regarded as unclean the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified, and blasphemed the Spirit of grace!
We know that vengeance is mine, I will repay, and again the Lord said, “I will judge his people.”
It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.
My righteous one will live by faith, and if he shrinks back, my heart will have no pleasure in him.
