Madeleine McCann: Portugal reservoir search appears to be over – BBC News
A fresh search for evidence in Portugal in the hunt for Madeleine McCann appears to be over.
Police were seen packing up equipment around the Arade reservoir in the Algarve, three days after the search for the missing three-year-old began.
The operation was led by German police looking for evidence to link the British toddler’s disappearance to Christian Brueckner, a German national.
He was made a formal suspect by Portuguese prosecutors in 2022.

As the world watches the aftermath of devastating floods in Nepal, journalist Anup Kaphle has been asking a difficult question: When does coverage of a natural disaster cross from rightful global concern into spectacle?
Kaphle is the group editorial director of Kantipur Media Group, Nepal’s largest media organisation. He’s also a native of Nepal. After more than two decades working for American newsrooms, he returned to his home country with a mission to help tell Nepal’s story for the people who live there. Now, he finds himself confronting one of the greatest challenges of his career: helping Nepalis understand the full scale of the flooding and its impact on their lives, at a moment when international attention is focused on the most dramatic accounts.
Asma Khalid, co-host of The Global Story, speaks with Kaphle about the ongoing humanitarian efforts, the potential long-term impact of the disaster on Nepalis, and why he worries that the international community will soon turn its attention away from Nepal.

Nepal flood survivors are rescued from a tunnel and other top news stories | Global News Podcast
Rescue crews in Nepal have saved two workers from a blocked hydropower tunnel, nine days after they were trapped by debris from flash floods. An advisor to the rescue operation has describes it has “layer upon layer of layer of miracles”.
About 40 people are believed to still be trapped in the tunnel. Flooding along the Nepal-Tibet border last week has left almost 1,300 people dead, and more than 5,000 missing.

Was Maddie already dead when she was abducted? So far the McCanns have managed to maintain an impenetrable exterior. It takes the right stimulus to bring it out. Which of the two do you suppose will be the first to crack with that question? His reaction will be an arrogant brush off, but maternal emotions prevail and she breaks down relieving herself of a mental burden that is eroding her life.
The McCann interviews give the impression that they know something that they do not wish investigators, including the media, to ask. They seem to be covering for someone whose trust they will not betray.
The question that they hope no one will ever ask: Was the child dead or alive when abducted?
The root cause appears to be sedatives, either directly by overdose, by adverse reaction with another drug or that resulted in the accidental death of the child from fatal injury. The operator of a resort does not wish their reputation to be tarnished and deals expeditiously with this kind of situation. They know what the low lives that lurk in their vicinity are up to and make use of persons like the suspect in order to dispose of the body. Or, the suspect on the alert for an opportunity to do a burglary observes the McCanns hiding the body and takes it for himself, which is why he had photos that the German police discovered.
By her belief that the abductor sedated the children Kate has unwittingly revealed that the perpetrator was a doctor, hence one of her own group. Nothing precludes a pedophile from becoming a doctor and contact with children draws him to this profession. A postmortem might have brought infamy to the entire group.

The only suspects, official or otherwise, are Kate & Gerry McCann having never been ruled out by the Portuguese police. This was pointed out by the Supreme Court in Lisbon when the McCanns lost their libel action against Goncalo Amaral

I believe her so called parents being doctors gave her medication to make her sleep and it went terribly wrong. Why take just her or focus on her? 2 other children in the room, one day the truth will come out….always does….police did not do their job properly over there, everybody knows that! The parents made a mistake as far as they were concerned that needed to be covered up due to having young twins and both being doctors, sorry but noone in their right minds leaves children that young to go to dinner! She was already dead before they hit the restaurant.
