Forget about the number of trophies and other accomplishments. Let's talk about basic skill, or rather, the lack thereof in Ronaldo's case. It's clear as day that Messi is lightyears ahead of Ronaldo in terms of sheer football prowess.

Ronaldo can only score most of his goals by relying on his physical attributes. It's like watching a one-trick pony in action. Sure, he's got the physique of a powerhouse, but when it comes to actual skill, he falls way short.

Let's start with the basics: ball control and dribbling. While Messi effortlessly glides past defenders with his close ball control and mesmerizing dribbling skills, Ronaldo often relies on raw power and speed to get past opponents. His touch on the ball lacks finesse, and he tends to lose control when faced with tight spaces or nimble defenders. Additionally, Ronaldo's so called "dribbling" (AKA generic step overs) lacks the creativity and inventiveness that Messi brings to the game.

And let's not forget about playmaking ability. Messi has an innate vision for the game, with the ability to thread the needle with precise passes and create scoring opportunities for his teammates. His playmaking is a combination of intelligence, anticipation, and technical brilliance. Ronaldo, on the other hand, is more focused on his individual scoring feats rather than creating for others. His passing is often overshadowed by his selfish desire to shoot and score, and he lacks the same level of creativity and vision as Messi.

Furthermore, let's talk about versatility. Messi has proven himself to be effective in various positions on the field, adapting to different roles and excelling in each one. He can play as a playmaker, a false nine, or a wide attacker with equal proficiency. Ronaldo, on the other hand, can only play as a forward, relying on his goal-scoring ability rather than showing the same level of versatility as Messi.

Now, let's turn our attention to Ronaldo's goal-scoring prowess. While Ronaldo has some goal records, it's worth noting that a significant portion of his goals come from penalties and tap-ins. Messi, on the other hand, has showcased a wider array of goal-scoring techniques with his ability to score from long range, in fact most of his goals are from outside the box, dribble past multiple defenders, and create goals out of seemingly impossible situations.

But all Ronaldo does is stand around in the box and wait for someone to pass the ball; he's incapable of creating his own goals like true great strikers such as R9 (the best Ronaldo). There's a reason why, such as in every World Cup, Ronaldo practically disappears; there are no top-tier players from Real Madrid on his team to assist him. FFS, Maguire has more World Cup knockout goals than him.

Lastly, let's discuss consistency and influence in big games. Messi has consistently performed at the highest level in crucial matches and against top opposition. He has delivered exceptional performances World Cup games and in UCL knockout stages, El Clásico matches, and other international tournaments like Copa America. Ronaldo, while known for his exploits in knockout stages, he has multiple moments of inconsistency in big games, often failing to make a significant impact against top teams. If Ronaldo doesn’t score, he’s ghosts while Messi doesn’t need to score to be MOTM because of his magical playmaking, exceptional skill and understanding of the game.

Conclusion: When it comes to skill alone, Ronaldo is like the guy who relies on physical attributes rather than technical brilliance. He may have an "impressive" goal record and highlight reels, but when you break it down, it's clear that Messi is on a completely different level. Ronaldo's reliance on power and his lack of the same level of finesse and creativity as Messi make him the odd one out in this conversation about who's the GOAT.

There was never any sort of rivalry between Messi and Penaldo. Penaldo, much like a pesky younger sibling, seemed to think that his generic goals and penalty kicks were comparable to the greatness of the GOAT. Messi's unparalleled ability to weave past multiple defenders, gracefully chip the keeper, and make plays that only gods could dream of made him stand out as the true master of the sport.

While Messi's goals often came from striking the ball outside the box with precision and finesse, Penaldo's goals were largely achieved by waiting for opportunities to tap the ball in from close range, an act that obviously does not require the same level of skill and artistry as Messi's feats. In addition, it must be noted that Penaldo is not even the best Ronaldo to have graced the pitch; R9 was equally as gifted in his ability to perform with elegance and grace, much like the one and only GOAT, Lionel Andrés Messi.

Pendu is a tap-in merchant who doesn't even have the capability to score a World Cup knockout goal without the aid of super teammates who set him up for the simplest of finishes. There's a reason why, such as in every World Cup, he practically disappears; there are no top-tier players from Real Madrid on his team to assist him. He should be thanking his teammates for all of his individual awards and UCL achievements. Without them backing him, he would have no Ballon d'Ors or UCLs to show. He's the epitome of an overrated celebrity figure whose popularity is mostly attributable to his presence on social media. Again, Maguire has more World Cup knockout goals than Penaldo LOL.

Ronaldo, the paragon of sporting vanity, lords his self-importance with the audacity of a tempest commandeering the vast, open sea. It engulfs every mortal ship of humility, leaving in its wake a barren expanse terrorized by his brash pronouncements of grandeur unrivaled.

He is a gilded peacock, his radiant plumes unfurling in an ostentatious display of ego, casting an eclipse over the humble songbirds that share his stage. Each vibrant feather is an arrogant declaration, each strut, a testament to his supposed unchallenged supremacy, sweeps away all notions of modesty and shared triumph with a disdainful flicker.

Ronaldo's arrogance is a towering inferno, relentless and salient, consuming the parched forests of modesty with the fury of his self-praised greatness. Amidst the smoky ruins left in its rampage, the tender buds of humbleness find no oasis. Instead, they wither, succumbing to the choking haze of his inflated self-importance.

His ego, weighty and incessant like the Sahara dunes, encroach and devour the lush oases of mutual respect. It paints the verdant elegance of sportsmanship into barren scapes of haughtiness, where only the illusions of unity and camaraderie occasionally shimmer with deceptive luster.

In the cathedral of his ego, Ronaldo thrones himself above all, wreathed in a halo of conceit. There, the echoes of his self-declared sanctuary turn the hallowed hymns of shared glory into discordant strains of I, me, and myself.

His arrogance, a monstrous Everest, crowned by the regal clouds of self-worship, casts prodigious shadows upon the green valleys of teamwork. It's an Everest mightier than the rest, demanding attention, seeking devotion, its icy gusts freezing the tender roots of shared success and fair play.

When one utters 'the best', it should be a serenade composed in honor of countless heroes whose sweat, passion, and unyielding spirits have carved an enduring legacy. Yet, Ronaldo’s solo performance rattles this harmonious symphony, transforming it into a harsh soliloquy, a narcissistic aria bellowed from the summit of his self-built pedestal. His words, dripping with hubris, tarnish the golden canvas of history, casting long shadows over the tales of many greats who have danced the dance of champions.

No controversy here. Messi doesn't express it, but guessing he has a somewhat similar if not identical mentality. Funny thing is, it doesn't even matter which one is better. It's as if people wrap their own personal value in this so-called-debate.

Messi is more sympathetic to me as a person, but I believe that Ronaldo is slightly better as a player: he is more complete, the guy scores by weak foot, header, acrobacy… he is stronger, faster, he trains with incredible accuracy… I believe he was not lying when he said he was the best in the world: 7 years ago, he certainly was: geez, the man scored more than 800 goals and he's not even a centre-forward!

US hits ‘dozens’ of Iranian sites in strikes, as Iran targets US bases in region | BBC News

Published

on

The US said it has hit “dozens” of Iranian military targets in overnight attacks, in response to Iran hitting commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz.

The military said it struck “air-defense systems, coastal radar sites, missile and drone capabilities, and small boats”, using aircraft, ships, and drones – including “one-way attack sea drones for the first time”.

“The Strait of Hormuz is a vital maritime corridor for global trade,” the US military said. “Iran does not control it”.

In response, Iran said it targeted US bases in Jordan, Bahrain, and Kuwait and also radar systems in Oman.

Trump demands 20% toll on cargos passing through strait of Hormuz | BBC News

Published

on

President Donald Trump has said the US is reinstating a naval blockade of Iranian ports and will impose a 20% charge on all cargo shipped through the Strait of Hormuz following days of escalating strikes between the two countries.

He said this would stop “Iran’s ships or customers” from entering or leaving the key oil shipping route, but “all other countries will have fair and open use of the Strait”.

Iran’s foreign minister later said whoever provides safe passage “should be compensated for this service”, but Iran would remain the strait’s “GUARDIAN” – using Trump’s word.

Tehran and Washington clashed over the strait’s control after exchanging strikes in the region overnight and on Monday.

The US said it carried out strikes against military targets in Iran, targeting air defence systems, coastal radars, and missile and drone sites. Iran said it responded by striking US military bases in Kuwait, Jordan and Bahrain, and radars in Oman.

US launches more strikes on Iran and resumes naval blockade of ports | BBC News

Published

on

The US military said it was carrying out a new wave of strikes on targets in Iran. It said the aim of the attacks was to degrade Iran’s ability to attack shipping in the strait of Hormuz. It came ass the US Navy resumed its blockade of Iran’s ports.

Iran said that control of the strait of Hormuz was required for its national security and it will exercise sovereignty over the key shipping lane, whatever the cost.

President Trump announced that he was scrapping a plan he had announced a day earlier, for placing a 20% toll or tariff on all cargos passing through the strait of Hormuz.
