War in Ukraine could last years warns Nato chief – BBC News

Published

on

The West must prepare to continue supporting Ukraine in a war lasting for years, Nato’s chief has warned.

Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg said the costs of war were high, but the price of letting Moscow achieve its military goals was even greater.

For the last few months Russian and Ukrainian forces have battled for control of territory in the country’s east – with Moscow making slow advances in recent weeks.

Expand the British Army, not a chance with this lot, the same lot that bought our defences against a suspect virus from the very country it apparently originated from, and the PPE didn't work plus some was infected with the virus. No, it wouldn't even be a surprise if they bought our defenses from Russia. Expand the British Army, WEF and the NWO says no.

If it continues at the rate it's going, over half of ukraine will be gone by the years end. I'm not sure how long Europe will tolerate the economic troubles along with the millions of refugees.

Surrender US aided Ukraine. Ukrainians in Ukraine are losers and Losers cannot be choosers.
Losing land or the whole world for life is not right. Life is above everything, worlds and words.
Who knows what everybody's lives have store for them. Your kids won't be there when you won't be there.
Losing land not life is not right.
Wastage of life and lifetime over land is not right. Go save refugees in other countries.
Patriotism is towards citizens, people first and land, cites afterwards.
Anybody saving lives is more patriotic than bourgeois life losers for land. Land saved can be reattacked and retaken. Life is priority.
    Winning is lifesaving.
Killing is not winning, saving, evacuating lives is winning.
    Land is baggage, leave.
Land is stage trap, love is not.
Loved ones can be free, relocate elsewhere and live happily.

Christa Pike: 911 calls reveal chaos after failed execution and other stories | Global News Podcast

Published

on

Authorities in the US state of Tennessee have released dramatic phone calls that were made to the emergency services after the botched execution of Christa Pike. They show there was chaos and confusion as emergency responders tried to work out whether a request for help in the execution chamber was genuine and not a prank call, allegedly leading to a delay in the inmate being taken to hospital. Christa Pike, who killed Colleen Slemmer in 1995, was given two lethal injections that failed to kill her. Her case is now in uncharted territory as she is thought to be the only person to have survived an execution attempt by lethal injection.

The women exposing abuse in Iraq | BBC News

Published

on

This video contains distressing details.

Violence against women and girls in Iraq is widespread, but under reported, according to UN experts.

For incidents of sexual violence, there are no official figures. Human rights campaigners in the country say more needs to be done to protect women who speak out. They say threats and incitement against survivors should be investigated as crimes.

BBC Arabic’s Sally Nabil has been to Baghdad to speak to women who say family and social pressures discouraged them from speaking out, but have now decided to break their silence.
