Inside El Salvador’s secretive mega-jail – BBC News
A BBC investigation has used computer generated reconstructions to reveal what life is like inside Cecot, El Salvador’s so-called ‘mega-jail’.
The reconstruction was made possible thanks to videos and photos shared by the government, and media outlets who were given access to the prison before it opened.
Cecot has become a symbol of President Nayib Bukele’s notorious “war against gangs”, which the country’s ministry of security says has resulted in the detention of at least 68,000 people since the campaign began in March 2022.

Sargy Mann has been painting all of his professional life, first as a teacher and later as a professional artist. In his mid-30s he developed cataracts on both eyes, eventually leading to total blindness. He continued to paint.Twenty-five years later, Sargy’s work is highly sought-after by collectors with paintings regularly selling for upward of £50,000 (US$80,000).
He spoke to BBC News about his life and gave an insight into how he continues to work.

Australian MP Helen Haines has been taken to hospital with “critical injuries” after she was hit by a car near her regional office in Wangaratta, Victoria, police have said.
“This wasn’t an accident – there was a deliberate act, it would appear,” said Prime Minister Anthony Albanese.
Police have said they’re investigating whether it was “intentional” and a 43-year-old man, from nearby Tarrawingee, was arrested at the scene by a passer-by.

The cancellation of human rights for individuals convicted of murder should be considered from a professional standpoint. It is noteworthy that there are external sources that tend to prioritize the defense of criminals, rather than focusing on the progress and successes of other nations.

To all those so worried about these animals, contact our Salvadoran government and ask them to send them your way so you all can have them at your houses and let’s see how long your families last.
Basically, don’t talk 💩 if you don’t know how living in that hell really is, these are not lovely kinds and those aren’t crayon marks, are proves of their crimes.

When I think of humane prison conditions I think of room to stretch, decent food, a warm bed, and the ability to shower and use a toilet privately. That's a concern here but access to outsiders doesn't qualify due to the nature of the gang culture. Yes, it sucks badly when a loved one gets incarcerated and you can't get see and/or talk to them. Nobody should be dehumanized to the level that we lack compassion but the MS-13 gang is f**ked up! I was raised in soCal and even there they're a serious problem. Utilizing monuments as a recruiting tool is unacceptable. It teaches kids there that life isn't cheap if you join the gang, people will remember you. That's bullsh*t, the gang itself is the reason for the problem of treating people as disposable in the first place. As a parent there (I'm not) I would be vigilant to ensure my kids didn't fall into that lifestyle. I'm happy that the President there is actually trying help future generations via the school of hard knocks. I just pray that the prisoners are treated with basic respect even if they don't deserve it. Always rise above.

BBC makes me sick. They're ALWAYS on the wrong side of every issue. If someone were to invent a cure for cancer pill, BBC would do a hit piece on it showing how poor and hungry the former staff of cancer research centers are and tell you you're heartless for not feeling sorry for them as they no longer have a job (doing nothing) and eat out of trashcans (still doing nothing but no longer being paid by taxpayers.)
