UK to consider sending more tanks to Ukraine, says defence secretary – BBC News
The UK Defence Secretary Ben Wallace said he will consider sending more British tanks to Ukraine if they are used effectively.
Mr Wallace was speaking after meeting Ukrainian troops training on the British Army’s Challenger 2 tanks for the first time in the UK.
The UK was the first to pledge 14 modern main battle tanks to Ukraine with several more countries now promising to send more.
Ukraine said it needs western weapons to retake its territory from Russia.

The jury in Russell Brand’s rape trial won’t see a TV documentary that a complainant says led her to come forward.
Judge Mr Justice Bennathan said it would be unfair to show the Channel 4 Dispatches programme because the allegations it contains have not been tested in court, but said that jurors will hear about it during the trial.
The 51-year-old actor and comedian faces seven charges – three counts of rape, three charges of sexual assault and one of indecent assault.
The allegations, made by six female complainants, span a 10-year period between 1999 and 2009. He denies the charges.

The BBC has witnessed Israeli settlers attack Palestinians and set fire to olive trees in the occupied West Bank.
Several dozen settlers dressed in black charged down a hill near an outpost – illegal under Israeli and international law – to a field where Palestinians and activists were harvesting olives. They torched about a dozen trees and hurled stones from slingshots.
Washington Post photographer Heidi Levine, who was at the scene, was taken to hospital where she told reporters she “got jumped” and described being kicked on the ground.
The UN says the past two weeks have already seen more attacks by violent Israeli settlers than during the entire harvest season last year. It says this year levels of settler violence have reached an all-time high.
The BBC’s Middle East Correspondent Lucy Williamson reports from the occupied West Bank.

The U.K doesn’t need to worry about being invaded, we are a nuclear power and have nato to watch out backs, may as well give our whole fleet of challenger two’s especially considering the challenger 3 will replace them. We don’t need these tanks but Ukraine does.

If it is right for the US, NATO and Europe to arm Ukraine, why is it not right for China to arm Russia? Similarly, if Western private satellite companies are correct in assigning Russian military activity to Ukraine, why is it that China's private satellite organization is incorrect in assigning Ukrainian military activity to Russia? It's unfair.

We should put at least 50 tanks into UKRAINE, with trained crew, and backed up with Typhoons to push PUTIN back to his borders. Thus far the promises of tanks from the NATO countries is just a drop in the bucket. Ukraine needs several hundred MBTs at the minimum. I am curious about the tactical skills of the Ukrainian tankers. Tanking can be challenging due to the speed of maneuver warfare.
