Russia appeals for new recruits to join Ukraine war effort – BBC News
Russia’s Kremlin has launched an extensive campaign for new recruits to join the Ukraine war effort.
Russia does not give numbers, but Western officials say between 70,000 and 80,000 Russian troops have been killed or wounded since it launched its invasion six months ago.
In order to attract fresh recruits, the authorities are offering volunteers huge sums of money, plots of land and even premium places for their children in Russian schools.
Recruiters have even been visiting Russian prisons to sign up inmates, promising them freedom and money.

Three members of his government, including Home Office minister Jess Phillips, have resigned, whilst scores of Labour MPs are calling for him to quit following a disastrous set of elections for the party last week.
Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood is among a number of cabinet ministers urging the prime minister to set out a departure timetable.
Sir Keir said he does not intend to quit and threw down the gauntlet to potential rivals to formally challenge him as Labour leader.
No MP has yet launched a formal bid to challenge him, which requires the backing of 81 colleagues or 20% of Labour MPs, according to party rules.

The US said it has hit “dozens” of Iranian military targets in overnight attacks, in response to Iran hitting commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz.
The military said it struck “air-defense systems, coastal radar sites, missile and drone capabilities, and small boats”, using aircraft, ships, and drones – including “one-way attack sea drones for the first time”.
“The Strait of Hormuz is a vital maritime corridor for global trade,” the US military said. “Iran does not control it”.
In response, Iran said it targeted US bases in Jordan, Bahrain, and Kuwait and also radar systems in Oman.

President Donald Trump has said the US is reinstating a naval blockade of Iranian ports and will impose a 20% charge on all cargo shipped through the Strait of Hormuz following days of escalating strikes between the two countries.
He said this would stop “Iran’s ships or customers” from entering or leaving the key oil shipping route, but “all other countries will have fair and open use of the Strait”.
Iran’s foreign minister later said whoever provides safe passage “should be compensated for this service”, but Iran would remain the strait’s “GUARDIAN” – using Trump’s word.
Tehran and Washington clashed over the strait’s control after exchanging strikes in the region overnight and on Monday.
The US said it carried out strikes against military targets in Iran, targeting air defence systems, coastal radars, and missile and drone sites. Iran said it responded by striking US military bases in Kuwait, Jordan and Bahrain, and radars in Oman.

Explosions have been heard near two Iranian port cities, Bandar Abbas and Bushehr, state media has reported.
It comes after another night of strikes between the US and Iran, with Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps saying it hit two UAE tankers in the Strait of Hormuz and targeted US facilities in Jordan and Bahrain.
The UAE called the attack “brazen”, adding that an Indian crew member was killed and eight others were injured.
Meanwhile, the US military says it completed strikes on targets aimed at degrading “Iran’s ability to attack commercial shipping” – Iranian state media reports three people were killed.

I say to both Russians and Ukrainians. Choose not to carry arms. Choose to follow Jesus Christ, who´s birth we soon celebrate. I hope both Ukrainians and Russians who are peaceful and do not want to be killed or to kill can be wellcomed here in Sweden – allthough I´m not certain of the exact immigration rules for drafted people. Nut I think we recieved Americans drafted for Vietnam in the 60:s. I think we need more Europeans in Sweden as we´ve had such a large muslim immigration. At least I would wellcome more Europeans. I am myself a blieving christian, and a pacifist against violence in general.

This sending to the front line without training is mostly ballcocks. This is a rare event that will get a recruiting sergeant a severe reprimand or a loss of their job. Since Ukraine's Bombing And terrorist actions over the border in and around Belogrod 70,000 Russians have signed up in the last couple of months. So these Ukrainian incursions have been good for recruitment.
This expert has no clue about motivation or training for a real war. Any experience against 3rd world Afghan or Iraq forces is irrelevant if you come up against fully trained Russian forces.
I am sure by now you have seen the devastation inflicted on the Unfortunate Ukrainian recruits who have been trained to NATO standards in a few weeks
to drive complicated Bradley's and Leopard Tanks. These two new divisions got smashed and were taken out of the front line within three days to be replaced with experienced Azzov and other regiments
With T64 tanks. At least these managed to capture two or three settlements and villages in the grey zone 10km or so before the Russians first line of defense.
America and the UK are responsible for the 7,500 or so deaths of Ukrainians since the start of this offensive on the 4 th June, which was so innefective that we refused to even say it had started because there was nothing to show that Ukraine had won back.
Zelensky delayed and delayed this offensive for as long as he could. Starting an offensive without AIR COVER or Anti aircraft missiles covering your troops is suicide. But American politicians like Biden don't care, British politicians like the Rt Hon Ben Wallace and James Cleverly don't care. We just want to see results. We got them with a Ukrainian flag waving outside the centre of some worthless village hall, for the village only to be taken back by the Russians later that night.
We still refuse to believe we are being lied to Iraq weapons ofass destruction style. We will not defeat the Russians in their neighbouring front garden of Ukraine, but we are quite happy to irradiate it with dupleted Uranium shells so the pristine farmland of Ukraine will be useles for generations…. Is this a war crime ??

What the world needs in Russia, what the people of the world need, are liberty and democracy, the ability of people of self determination, and a definitive, determinate means of cooperative determination. Not authoritarianism, not rule by force, but liberty, our ability of self determination.
We need an open avenue where those who are forced to fight against their will can resign the conflict. The effort for liberty and democracy in Russia must be facilitated by the Russian people themselves, from within and from without.
I worked in phlebotomy for a number of years. On occasion, a % of people getting their blood drawn would become dizzy or even faint. This result is thought to be associated with our autonomic nervous system reaction, it's called a vasovagal response. They talk about the fight or flight instincts in defense. From my observation, it would seem that another is to lay there and do absolutely nothing. Laying there and doing absolutely nothing will make it harder for those trying to take you away to do so. If you get arrested in Russia, make them carry you. It will take 2-4 men to do so. If you refuse to walk, will they break your legs? If you refuse to fight, will they kill you?
Legal consequences are one risk, escalation of tyranny is another, as we see occurring in Iran with the regime executing those engaging in civil disobedience, accused of "creating public insecurity by threatening lives or property with a weapon". The government is executing it's own people for using force against force, in resisting subjugation by the government. However, if it is rule by force that we oppose, is it reasonable that we use force against this? Is it possible to do otherwise?
Make them do all the work, and make more work for them to do. Remember, it is our hands that do the work, and that is our greatest strength, and that is their most fundamental weakness, they cannot do it for themselves, they need us to do it for them. Their power over us is primarily through our compliance.
Join with the people in Russia, in Ukraine, and world wide, who are working to end tyranny and ensure liberty, for all! Liberty is our ability of self determination. Liberty is synonymous with our nature and value of free will. Putin is not Russia, the government is not Russia, the military is not Russia, the police are not Russia. The Russian people are Russia, you are Russia! Who decides? We decide for ourselves! That is liberty! That is democracy!
Fight, flight or do nothing are our primary options.
Vote with your ballots, vote with your feet, vote with your fists.

Etheopian army claim to have shot down a plane carrying arms stolen from the russian army to be sold to the rebels for hard currency by corruption within the army. It seems that the stock of weapons in the russian army are been sold by russian corrupt army officers to rebel groups on the open market for hard currency as they have not been paid by the russian state.

The WWII analogy about Russian resilience doesn't hold with their unprovoked invasion of Ukraine. In WWII, Russian soldiers were defending "Mother Russia." Today, the Ukrainians are defending their homeland against invaders who really have little or no idea why they're there (de-Nazification doesn't really hold any weight, as things have worked out). And in WWII, you didn't need microprocessors in your weapons systems. It was dumb and brute force against more dumb and brute force. As Stalin pointed out, "Quantity has a quality all its own." It really shows that Western force is scalpel sharp (Javelin, Excaliber HIMARS), while so much of Russian force is back to being dumb, no matter the "scary" names they have for their weapons. Western weapons can take out a command post or battery of howitzers with four or five shells. Russians instead aim missiles and artillery shells at "area targets": city centers, shopping malls, apartment complexes, and so on, hoping for hits. And it's not just the "chips" that make the difference. Russian soldiers were motivated in WWII (fighting evil); in Ukraine, they're not (they're evil).

Regarding his comment that Russian soldiers are very resilient like they were in WW2. Yes, very true, but this is more like WW1, where Russian soldiers were fighting in foreign land and mother Russia was not being invaded, and they were slaughtered by German soldiers on German and Polish land. Thus, no motivation to fight in WW1 and no motivation to fight now. Therefore, expect continued Russian losses, but bigger since Russia has lost it's best soldiers that will be replaced by inexperienced civilians in uniform looking to surrender ASAP.
