Meet the socially distant robot scientist – BBC News
A robotic scientist – that could increase the pace of scientific discovery – has been developed by researchers at the University of Liverpool.
The technology is part of what the Royal Society of Chemistry has called a new digital age for science.
The organisation says that artificial intelligence and robotics will be vital in keeping research and development – including the search for coronavirus treatments – moving quickly at a time of social distancing, when fewer human scientists will be able to get back into their labs.

Cyber Attack: Ransomware causing chaos globally – BBC News
Tens of thousands of organisations have been caught out by a computer virus called WannaCry. The malicious software locks data away and demands a payment of up to $300 (£230) a time before it will restore scrambled files. In the UK, many hospitals fell victim and some health organisations diverted ambulances and cancelled non-essential services as they sought to contain and clean up the infection. Infections in more than 99 nations are being reported by security firms. It appears that the hardest hit are Russia and Spain.

Is this AI’s moment of truth? | BBC News
A year ago, artificial intelligence was being sold as something close to science fiction — a technology that could transform society, cure disease, even reshape the global economy.
Today, the tone is changing. The companies leading the revolution are racing to the stock market — chasing billions in investment — while quietly confronting a much harder reality: AI is expensive, unpredictable, and far from profitable.
At the same time, some of the very people building this technology are warning we may be going too fast — even calling for a global pause.
And beyond Silicon Valley, a different story is emerging: growing public anxiety, political backlash, and the rise of what some are calling anti-AI populism.
So is AI entering its most pivotal moment yet — caught between financial pressure, technological risk, and political resistance?
AI Decoded Presenter Christian Fraser is joined by Financial Times AI Editor Madhumita Murgia, Thematic Strategist at Deutsche Bank Research Adrian Cox and Richard Coffin, Host of popular investing podcast ‘ The Plain Bagel’.

Wrong, it's inevitable, that machines will take over simple, and tedious tasks. People who mostly do labour will suffer(or continue to suffer) in the future and be forced into poverty or a new field. The movie Charlie and The Chocolate Factory (The one with Johnny Depp) tackled the idea of Automation.

All these comments tell me one thing. we are lacking in the UK, scientific literacy. No, this does not take anyones jobs. It is innovative and makes science better. If you cant see this, then please, ask me why. thanks.

as a lab worker this kind of thing is so insulting when they say "it will not replace humans" please stop insulting our intelligence, the only reason these machines are made is to replace human workers. The inventor himself in another video was banging on about no sick days, 24 hour working and no hangovers !!! i hope to never see these in an actual clinical lab.

Don't think that genetically modified people are not walking among you. A Chinese researcher by the name of He Jiankui modified the genes of twins .
Yes. It's real "Jiankui" engineered twin girls—offspring of a healthy mother and an HIV-positive father. The twin girls were born to be resistant to HIV, the virus that causes AIDS- by using a nascent gene-editing technology called Crispr-Cas9 stunning the global scientific community… Look it up!

Those rich greedy leaders and buisness people who don't fear God nor believe in him will do whatever it takes to get super richer and change the world we live in. Peoples don't matter. Evidence of this they are also involved in weapons of mass destruction including of all sorts. They are also for the idea of reducing the world population and specially the old ,the sick the poor and ethnic minorities.
First find a away to reduce the population.
Find ways to extremely control people, some services, buisness and some companies. First using excuses like LOCKDOWNS and covic19 new normal rules and laws. Governments will act as agents for those top rich people who are running the world including control of the world bank.
The new normal of the next new age of high tech is starting now…
Also the new type of food including artificial meat is alredy in process. First meat will have to turn to a serious health problem.
This virus covic19 is small example of what may come next. Number of meat process sectors in the US and Europe closed down after a high number of covic19 infections.
Chinise Government resently said that the virus covic19 could live in frozen meat. Also it could survive frozen for 20 years. How they know this??
Well they accidentally disclosed the evidence that this virus was infact tacking from animals manipulated and frozen since after SARS1 2005/ 2007..this was after a discovery of 300 pages documents BREVET EP1694829B1by some French investigators. The documents from a laboratory in Wuhan China where a French pharmaceutical company Institute Pasture were working with the Chinese after the SARS 2004. The virus was made after and a vaccine was developed and tested in 1.millions Chinese. 2005. /2007 and things went frozen until resently.
The immunity passport also is part of the agenda.
A vaccine is the only way to have a immunity passport in order to have access to places and to travel also it could be a must if you are applying for jobs. Those with out the immunity passport will be disadvantaged.
It could also be ENFORCED by law if Governments aren't challenged hard.
The UK Government is ok with the idea according to some reports. China and some US top billionaires are for the idea of a vaccine certificate in order to get immunity passport. Probably the certificate subject to RENEWAL. This way the A future approved Avaccine will go on for next 15 years as mega profits for some ( could be trillions) then an other virus or bacteria will take over…probably before the end of the covic19 …
