on

The US says it will support providing advanced fighter jets including US-made F-16s to Ukraine and also back training Ukrainian pilots to fly them.

A senior White House official said President Biden had told G7 leaders in Japan of the decision.

Ukraine’s President Volodomyr Zelensky said the decision would “greatly enhance our army in the sky”.

If F-16's are arriving in Ukraine, The U.S. should send A10 Warthogs that are being retired in the U.S. Military anyways.
The F-16 & Warthog combination would destroy Russia's War effort and allow the Ukrainians to Push Russia off of Ukrainian territory.

I don't see why the US can't donate the jets to Ukraine. Retired US pilots could join the Ukrainian military to fly them. After all Soviets flew Russian made North Korean jets during the Korean war.

The USA is only saying yes to fighter jets now because the UK 🇬🇧 stepped up and said they will supply and train pilots. Biden is weak. He’s anti British. It’s terrible.

Ukraine 'failed leadership'… every time Russian forces are in some new mess, Ukraine leaders 'fritter away each opportunity'. They don't have the balls, or the 'sound mind' to realize support for this war will 'wane Notably' by this coming winter. Originally, I was for Ukraine getting 20 or more F16s…. but now, NO. Why? they have 4 types of new long range missiles from UK and US, and the top tanks, etc. in limited numbers…… and the results… DEAD ZERO 'real' tangibles. Ukraine Pres and Mil leaders spoke in June that they are 'intentionallly going slow step by step to save lives'.. what they fail to realize, the more time they give the Russian 'sovietites' to build multiple lines of defense and regroup, the more they will succeed in blunting and limiting any action by Ukraine.

…. Ukraine leaders effectively 'lied to the world' saying they were waiting for summer for any wide scale offensive…… the ground is firm and the actions are 'near nill'. THey use only 20% of their over 21 brigades… and the 'leadership' of 1 of these brigades was to 'bunch up over 15 armor vehicles'…. see some destroyed, and abandon them all to the Russians including the Leppard, etc.

… Ukraine has never realized that losing 10,000 men is 'simple real life necessary' to retake all of crimea and win this war……

…. Childish 'dream state' of Ukraine President Zelenskyy and his military leaders:
    1. they keep on 'dreaming' that Russia will collapse and have to retreat from crimea.
    2. they hope russian against russian will overthrown Putin… quite unlikely.
    3. they dream when Russian forces have 2 times been 'in chaos'; but they NEVER take advantage of these.
    4. they falsely dream sactions (which are being broken wholesale by Georgia) will move putin. Putler is like hitler, he won't stop until Russia ends as a whole nation and it's people are utterly ruined..
    5. the Wagner and another event this summer; Ukraine leaders delay taking advantage, in stupid wrongly placed HOPE that Russia military will disappear. it will not.

The ineptitude, refusal to act, and lethargic piece meal actions are vindicative of a nation who has 'LOST the leadership will to win'…

they have over 800 armor vehicles of many types, to mention just one lot of deliveries in place…and they 'squander' 98% of these… parked in fields 'rotting' and sheltered foolishly in the north beyond good defensive reason… .

I am losing support for Ukraine, and seeing them as 'just unwilling to go out there and Patton like 'win big'….

F16.. NO.. they 'are squandering 100s of billions in the more than 45 jets, and 100s of tanks, etc. they have already rec'd.. don't trust THEM or our US money-fat generals who are playing 'vietnam' in Ukraine.

…. no. NO MORE.. end new funding as of October 2023; and let Ukraine change their dishonest and substandard behavior. this is a lie, and I'm not drinking the Ukraine cool-aide any longer. perhaps the republicans were right about ukraine… 2 Summer months and 'tiny villages and lost TOP ranked equipment….

NOT to be used in Russia, as the US has stated without any doubt to Ukraine, right, BBC?
They are only for self defense.

Russia isn't getting weaker, russia is winning. So, ukraines allies send them the f16s. They won't help though, against the stealther 35s that russia has. Ukraine will blow through their f16s in maybe a month. Russia will still be on the up and up considering ukraines allies are running out of weapons. If this was super powers going head to head that would be a different story. This is a small, poor country trying to go head to head with a super power, all the while being armed by other countries that have dwindling stock piles. Its good to be optimistic about ukriane, but still all for nothing. Who won against iraq? It was the US due to them being better equipped. So, lets not pretend that ukraine is a super power.

Ukraine's requirement for fighter aircraft is crucial for their defense strategy. Swiftly training their pilots and providing the planes will empower Ukraine to secure their skies and mount a successful counteroffensive, bringing them one step closer to defeating Russia

US hits ‘dozens’ of Iranian sites in strikes, as Iran targets US bases in region | BBC News

Published

on

The US said it has hit “dozens” of Iranian military targets in overnight attacks, in response to Iran hitting commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz.

The military said it struck “air-defense systems, coastal radar sites, missile and drone capabilities, and small boats”, using aircraft, ships, and drones – including “one-way attack sea drones for the first time”.

“The Strait of Hormuz is a vital maritime corridor for global trade,” the US military said. “Iran does not control it”.

In response, Iran said it targeted US bases in Jordan, Bahrain, and Kuwait and also radar systems in Oman.

Trump demands 20% toll on cargos passing through strait of Hormuz | BBC News

Published

on

President Donald Trump has said the US is reinstating a naval blockade of Iranian ports and will impose a 20% charge on all cargo shipped through the Strait of Hormuz following days of escalating strikes between the two countries.

He said this would stop “Iran’s ships or customers” from entering or leaving the key oil shipping route, but “all other countries will have fair and open use of the Strait”.

Iran’s foreign minister later said whoever provides safe passage “should be compensated for this service”, but Iran would remain the strait’s “GUARDIAN” – using Trump’s word.

Tehran and Washington clashed over the strait’s control after exchanging strikes in the region overnight and on Monday.

The US said it carried out strikes against military targets in Iran, targeting air defence systems, coastal radars, and missile and drone sites. Iran said it responded by striking US military bases in Kuwait, Jordan and Bahrain, and radars in Oman.

US launches more strikes on Iran and resumes naval blockade of ports | BBC News

Published

on

The US military said it was carrying out a new wave of strikes on targets in Iran. It said the aim of the attacks was to degrade Iran’s ability to attack shipping in the strait of Hormuz. It came ass the US Navy resumed its blockade of Iran’s ports.

Iran said that control of the strait of Hormuz was required for its national security and it will exercise sovereignty over the key shipping lane, whatever the cost.

President Trump announced that he was scrapping a plan he had announced a day earlier, for placing a 20% toll or tariff on all cargos passing through the strait of Hormuz.
