The Red Cross says it has begun the transfer of hostages held in Gaza by Hamas, with vehicles seen crossing into Egypt.
The organisation describes the work as a “multi-day” operation which will include the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza.
Israeli media are reporting that a group of 13 Israeli hostages have been released by Hamas in Gaza and are now in Egypt.
Twelve Thai hostages were also freed by Hamas.
The group are expected to be flown to Israeli hospitals for medical checks before being reunited with their families.

Police in London need to move away from criminalising women involved in street sex work in the wake of the disastrous murder case of Simon Levy, officers have told the BBC.
Levy, a convicted sex offender, was left to kill two women and rape another – all of whom were vulnerable and sometimes engaged in street sex work – due to a series of failings, including by the Metropolitan Police.
The BBC was given access to the Met’s new two-officer female team in north London, created in a bid to engage with street sex workers, improve trust, and encourage them to report crimes committed against them.
The team described hearing about endemic levels of male violence against the women they have met.

Four people, including a teacher and children aged 5, 8 and 11, have been killed in a shooting at an elementary school in the US state of Oregon, local police say.
The suspected attacker, a 16-year-old boy, forced his way into the school by firing at locked doors. He was also killed in the shooting.
Emergency services in the city of Bend responded after receiving a call that an armed person had fired at a car before he was seen going into the Silver Rail Elementary School with a long gun.
The suspect was shot dead by an armed member of the community who followed the suspect inside the school, police say.

What is Israel doing differently against Hamas than Saudi against Houthis?🎉
Why is Israel being protested by mobs worldwide and called genocidal while the death toll in Yemen is much higher without one protest or call for a ceasefire?
Saudi says Houthis use hospitals for military purposes.
Both of these wars are against Iranian proxies, and they seem identical.
Yet we don’t see Saudis dropping leaflets and evacuation notices, nor do Saudis call the residents telling them to evacuate before striking.
Anti-Saudi media claims that Saudi Arabia killed 150,000 people in Yemen while Hamas claims Israel killed 14,000 people.
The death toll in Yemen since 2014 for the war is 370,000 in total including death by starvation, Gaza since 1967 is nowhere near that number.
You cannot have double standards and protest against Israel and not Saudi, or think Saudi is doing something acceptable but not Israel.
It’s easier to hate Israel because it’s Jews vs Muslims. That way it’s easier to pick sides. But when Saudi Arabia does it it’s Arab vs Arab. Also, Saudi Arabia having Mecca and Medina might have a role to play in this.
It is also a way for arab leaders to distract their civilians from their domestic turmoil.

Life is precious on both sides. Ceasefire no more bloodshed.
