There’s little that national treasure Helen Mirren can’t do.
The celebrated British actress is fearless on and off screen. She’s conquered Shakespeare on stage, appeared in a colourful variety of films – from The Queen and Trumbo to 2023’s blockbuster Barbie – and even made a cameo in Kendrick Lamar’s Count Me Out music video. She’s no stranger to injecting a sense of exuberance and joy into her red-carpet style, whether it’s via a metallic Cadbury-purple trench coat in Cannes or a glittering mirrorball dress complete with hip-grazing platinum blonde locks.
Recently, Mirren sat down with Harper’s Bazaar UK to chat through her beauty bag (or “swagger bag”, as she calls it) and her mission to tackle ageism in partnership with L’Oréal Paris, with whom she’s worked with since 2014.
Helen Mirren is an ambassador for L’Oréal Paris.

I’m so happy that more women are being accepted with grey hair. The beauty industry did a great job of making it completely unacceptable for women. Grey hair shouldn’t t mean your life is over!!

"Let go of the concept of beauty" – she says, sitting there with her beauty bag. Say what? I have no idea what she is saying. Shouldn´t she have said: "Leg go of youth and be beautiful at a mature age, don´t try to look young". I would understand that – because Helen Mirren does all she can to be beautiful.
