Yesterday the UK government unveiled the much anticipated Internal Markets Bill. For a bill about the free movement of goods, a lot of controversy has been stirred up by the new law. That’s because according to some it could lead to the break up of the union and to others it could destroy all hope of a Brexit Deal.

There is no way Scotland can leave the UK and jump to the front of the queue to join the EU.
Even with oil at the price it is. Scotland still misses the entrence requirments, set out by EU entry rules. There GDP is in turmoil. You lot like braking rules. But, let's see the EU brake there own rules to allow Scotland to join. I for one is watching. 👍

The leftie democracy blocking EU lovers in parliment are being flushed. Right down the sheeter! !!!
It's done, the asymbies set up by blair, for the legal brake up of the Uk, under the EU thumb. Has expired. It's time to stop wasting money and get rid of that silly silly woman in Scotland. POWER BACK TO WESTMINSTER!!!!!!!!

5:24 Voice-over states: "The Withdrawal Agreement Bill is basically all about guaranteeing frictionless trade within the UK post-brexit."
Graphic shows: "Internal Market Bill" (which it has shown before side-by-side with the WAB).
    Question: Which one is right?
Also: In this case NOT a MINOR mistake! (Come on guys.)

U.K. Law/ British Law? When did that happen? I know there’s English law foisted on Wales snd NI, and Scottish Law, and the acts of union state clearly no law can be above either.
    So…?

  7. @EvenWaysMusic

    December 26, 2023 at 10:51 pm

Wait. Why can't each part of the UK already pass goods to each other without friction? Doesn't that already happen? I understand the NI bit but not the rest…

The internal market bill is needed for trade between the UK, the eu is risking a return to the troubles in NI by insisting on customs between us, I do not think that loyalist would be very pleased if its enforced.

Please do a dispassionate video on Welsh independence. It will help me make up my mind on whether I should vote for it. Incidentally, I've seen a weird pro-Brexit letter in the Metro magazine. After saying 'we' don't want to have a vote in Europe, the writer ironically said htat England should have a referendum on kicking Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland out of the union. He finished up, 'We can't vote in their parliaments so why should they vote in ours?'

This was a supporter of Ukip who was happy to sacrifice the UK itself on the altar of Brexit. At first sight, it looks weird. But James Hawes in his recent short history of England, now says that Boris' Conservative party, purged of dissenters, is effectively the English Nationalist Party.

As I live in Wales but very close to the border, I want to know ho windependence in Wales will affect us, and if it's economically vialbe even within the EU. My heart says yes. My head wonders where our money is going to come from. But I would aslo like to see a video on the possibility that England will leave the UK. It would once have sounded mad. We always saw the UK as greater England, but now we see old British imperialists morphing into Little Englanders – very little Englanders. The American historian, Timothy Snyder said the UK could not have Brexit. Either there would be no Brexit or Brexit would happen and then there would be no UK. It's beginning to look as if he was on to something.

With the caveats that a) I'm not from the UK and b) directly comparing the workings of the UK and EU is not always wise…

The idea that the UK (although it feels like it's mostly England/English people) want to be able to make their own laws/decisions on trade, AND want seamless trade with the EU REGARDLESS of divergence of product standards…
But then Westminster (which, when they ignore devolved governments, kinda feels like England making unilateral decisions) want all countries within the UK to follow the same laws and standards, without having a say…
I mean, that's about as hypocritical as it gets, right? To want something for yourself but enforce the opposite thing on someone else?

  17. @janlievens6964

    December 26, 2023 at 10:51 pm

When you choose not to read further into something as soon as it goes against your political narrative, it is wilfull ignorance. When you use this as a system to make decisions with, it is irresponsible. When you still do not change your view despite clear evidence, it is denial.

When you never except responsibility for what your wilfull ignorance, irresponsibility and denial has caused, it is confirmed. You are a leave voter.

    December 26, 2023 at 10:51 pm

Why can't the UK gov simply get a free trade deal with the EU ? No tariffs either way. All problems would disappear.

  19. @dwansbo

    December 26, 2023 at 10:51 pm

Without the risk of stating the obvious there are two sides to every deal. Assuming the EU would be willing to pass a deal with the IMB hanging in the air, (being debated by the British Parliament), what about the government's of the other member states. If one country decides to take offence, or feels that it is not in a position to consent to the EU committing to an international treaty with Britain then there will be no deal.
While the process of court action by the EU is ongoing, this will involve considerable costs, and without the guarantee of of a satisfactory outcome, a decision on a future trade deal is likely to be deferred by at least one of the 27 members.
Was the timing of the introduction of the IMB chosen, with the knowledge that it would occupy the British Parliament beyond the deadline for the ratification of a deal? Are the negotiations with Michel Barnier being conducted as a game of charades? Has a no deal outcome been the object of the excercise all along? Is it a Radical Conservative, underhand, Cummings think tank strategy, for his puppets to perform?
