US hits ‘dozens’ of Iranian sites in strikes, as Iran targets US bases in region | BBC News
The US said it has hit “dozens” of Iranian military targets in overnight attacks, in response to Iran hitting commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz.
The military said it struck “air-defense systems, coastal radar sites, missile and drone capabilities, and small boats”, using aircraft, ships, and drones – including “one-way attack sea drones for the first time”.
“The Strait of Hormuz is a vital maritime corridor for global trade,” the US military said. “Iran does not control it”.
In response, Iran said it targeted US bases in Jordan, Bahrain, and Kuwait and also radar systems in Oman.

Trump demands 20% toll on cargos passing through strait of Hormuz | BBC News
President Donald Trump has said the US is reinstating a naval blockade of Iranian ports and will impose a 20% charge on all cargo shipped through the Strait of Hormuz following days of escalating strikes between the two countries.
He said this would stop “Iran’s ships or customers” from entering or leaving the key oil shipping route, but “all other countries will have fair and open use of the Strait”.
Iran’s foreign minister later said whoever provides safe passage “should be compensated for this service”, but Iran would remain the strait’s “GUARDIAN” – using Trump’s word.
Tehran and Washington clashed over the strait’s control after exchanging strikes in the region overnight and on Monday.
The US said it carried out strikes against military targets in Iran, targeting air defence systems, coastal radars, and missile and drone sites. Iran said it responded by striking US military bases in Kuwait, Jordan and Bahrain, and radars in Oman.

New explosions near Iranian port cities, says state media | BBC News
Explosions have been heard near two Iranian port cities, Bandar Abbas and Bushehr, state media has reported.
It comes after another night of strikes between the US and Iran, with Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps saying it hit two UAE tankers in the Strait of Hormuz and targeted US facilities in Jordan and Bahrain.
The UAE called the attack “brazen”, adding that an Indian crew member was killed and eight others were injured.
Meanwhile, the US military says it completed strikes on targets aimed at degrading “Iran’s ability to attack commercial shipping” – Iranian state media reports three people were killed.

US launches more strikes on Iran and resumes naval blockade of ports | BBC News
The US military said it was carrying out a new wave of strikes on targets in Iran. It said the aim of the attacks was to degrade Iran’s ability to attack shipping in the strait of Hormuz. It came ass the US Navy resumed its blockade of Iran’s ports.
Iran said that control of the strait of Hormuz was required for its national security and it will exercise sovereignty over the key shipping lane, whatever the cost.
President Trump announced that he was scrapping a plan he had announced a day earlier, for placing a 20% toll or tariff on all cargos passing through the strait of Hormuz.

I'm in america and I work for a company that was started by a guy from the area. He was always big on family and the importance of taking vacation (the company gives us 11.46 hours of vacation time every single month that we can use for sick days, taking off, or we can hold onto it and let it add up. After you get like 180 hours they just pay you an extra 11.46 hours on your check every month). We get off about 10 to 14 days on Christmas, are off Thursday thru Sunday during Thanksgiving, take off labor day, 4th of July, and have 2 floating holidays we can use throughout the year. We work Monday through Thursday, 10 hour days. That's the 40 hour week. The plant is also open Friday and Saturday, but that's optional and Friday is only mandatory overtime when we're behind. He sold the company to Kubota back in 2016 for around $400,000,000 and gave everyone that worked there bonuses. 1 guy was there only 4 months and got like 400 bucks. My cousin was there for over a decade and got $17,000. My boss had been there over 30 years and got over $50,000! He's one of the most remarkable men I've ever heard of. Luckily Kubota kept a lot of his values in place and pretty much let us continue to do our own thing. They're not a bad company to work for; I really enjoy it. And I always feel like I'm well rested by the time Monday rolls around. I think more places should do this!

you do not know, what you are saying: a 4-day-week can never be more productive than a 5-day-week. This is mathematically impossible!
This is only possible in the case, if the employees have not worked full 5-days of the week. They might be in the job place 5 days of the week, but they have not worked 5 days.

4 day working week is a great idea don't listen to these Muppet ministers saying not to do them at the end of the day the government control to much of what the people do and companies take too much time away from hard working people when we all want to spend more time with the people that truly matter to us our loved ones ….Pro 4 day working week!! Why are humans rushing around and working so much?? Who do we do this for none other than greedy money orientated companies?

With markets tumbling, inflation soaring, the Fed imposing large interest-rate hike, while treasury yields are rising rapidly—which means more red ink for portfolios this quarter. How can I profit from the current volatile market, I'm still at a crossroads deciding if to liquidate my $275k bond/stock portfolio

100 % of the pay, for 80% of the hours……
That’s fine, and there will be those who prefer a five day week, and reap the benefits. Paying people the same money for less hours might work for some, but not everyone. Self employed people would lose a days pay, and possibly not care too much. They wouldn’t be able to charge more to compensate for a lost day, as they would price themselves out of their market, and people being people, many on a four day week would resort to their normal, relaxed office routine in time, where they wouldn’t do as much in four days as they did in five days. They’d get paid the same , so why bother. It would be against their human rights to be put back on a five day week!

When I was a gardener, the amount of work I did in a 40 hour, 5 day week was a killer. I was totally exhausted by Thursday, practically looking for any excuse for a secret sit down to rest. Friday I was just numb.
It was awful for my feet too, which suffered badly in my work footwear for so many hours, whatever type of boot or shoe I was given.
A week of heavy rain, snow, severe cold or boiling sun would make it feel like it was the longest week ever.
Weekends – I just wanted to sleep. But I would be washing my workwear and trying to dry out heavy clothing before Monday, as well as shopping, cleaning my flat, and dealing with bills, etc. I felt like I never switched off for one minute.
If they'd paid us 5 days wages for 4 days work, all of us gardeners would have had a decent rest – and probably enough energy recouped so the management didn't have to employ more staff to take up the slack.
This is a great idea. I do hope that it is taken on by many more companies.
