This could happen to any man on the street who doesn’t happen to have £3 million in their bank account. Wasn’t Nigel the person who said he didn’t mind being a few pounds poorer? From what I’ve read and it may just be rumour, he wasn’t able to comply with the bank’s rules that allow him to hold a high yielding business account. Nothing to do with his political views.

I read with utter disbelief regarding closure of Farage’s account at short notice and with no proper explanation.

Such action is tantamount to discriminatory, repressive and totalitarian behaviour.

It is very worrying for all customers that Coutts appears to have become a blatantly intolerant and politicised organisation that chooses to only serve customers that echo the beliefs of a small management clique.

I am sure that my deep concerns are shared by the vast majority of Coutts customers.

If he's performing a specific role within the program format, I'd appreciate at least an indirect nod indicating that's his function.
Otherwise his constant cyborg like and apparently obligatory response of "no evidence this is the case" in EVERY report makes him sound very useless to the program.
He sounds like he would be great on The View.

So the privately educated former city trader come politician who banks with a private bank, the man of the people Nigel Farage has made up a story about his account being unfairly shut due to his political opinions despite his having banked with them since the 1980s and Brexit having been completed back in 2016. Hmnmm

The reason he tells us is due to the woke establishment, you know the bankers, politicians, and traders belonging to institutions dating back to say the 16th century have suddenly turned on "free speech". This same establishment want him out of the country despite having offered him a bank account with Natwest since his Coutts account fell short of the minimum deposit (Coutts for pity sake, this isn't the Co-Op its a private bank of the wealthy elite). But lets not dwell on that because well it doesn't fit the political narrative does it Nig?

And out come all the little Nigels to defend this buffoonnery, this storm in a westminster tea cup brewed up by the man of the people, the privately educated, former city trader who banks with Coutts, the anti establishment martyr Nigel! You couldn't make this up if you tried, but here you are defending it and getting morally outraged on his behalf! lol

Poor little rich boy not as rich as he was when he worked in the EU ! Maybe his divorce settlement pushed him out ? I have a bank account in the real world with really low thresholds if I drop below those markers then I would be told to get another account type ! The bank bye his own words warned him about ? A month before ! He thought he could save face and embarrassment bye lying and he thought he was covered by client confidentiality? He had already declined anther account so was no Longer a customer ! The bank have only said he no longer met the standards to bank with that Branch of Nat West ! As the right wing usually say it doesn’t stop him going out drinking & smoking !NF says he has been declined bank accounts at other banks he hasn’t said weather it was the type of account he wished was the problem ? The trouble is if you are caught lying then no one believes the rest of the story ! He has left his employers at GBN with egg on even though they are trying to bluff their way through ! The truth it’s a none story with a few dozen pos genuine cases & that’s it poor little rich boy not as rich as when he worked in the EU

The Nat-West, TSB and Barclays bank are three banks which will never see a copper coin from me, TSB and Barclays because back in the 80's their staff seemed incapable of doing basic math so what little money I had in those accounts disappeared and all I was left with was bank charges (I have always kept tight records of my banking). The Nat West's story is somewhat different. Running two businesses again back in the 80's and always had a healthy cash flow running through my business accounts, then it was all first names and cups of tea with the bank manager in branch. Prior to the recession of the 80's I was persuaded by the bank to take out a loan of £3000 for very reasonable rates. In came the recession and work dried up fast, much of our work was Council contracts or first time buyers wanting to renovate or extend their homes, everyone was hit by the recession so the cash flow stopped. I paid Nat West what I could, when I could though the payments fell slightly short of what they should have been. It took Nat – West about 2 months before they started applying a ridiculous compound interest which mean the amount owed was growing rapidly regardless of how much I could afford to pay. At the time I was unable to fully pay the loan he outstanding amount was £998 pounds. by the time I could afford to pay it, 1 year later it was £3.5k plus! During this time, the first name had been dropped, no more tea and the manager made every excuse he could not to actually speak with me. I'm now doing very nicely thank you and a range of other banks are benefitting from my investments. One thing I have learned from this is that Loyalty is a one way street with banks, i now put my money where it will earn me the best interest rates and where I pay the minimum charges possible.
