Nothing for the South West, Only one shop now as they closed all the others and I cant get to their out of town one. We had a really brilliant shop in our Market town now its become an unemployment place put right in the nicest place of our town by our incompetent planners and Council.

UK economy probably did well in December but will have contracted hugely in January, so we've avoided a theoretical recession.
What will happen in February/March?? Who knows?

Sorry to mention this, am going off point but. I use M&S food halls regularly – I am a pensioner (not just a pensioner, but a struggling pensioner!!). I try and go for as many yellow labels as possible and I am getting increasingly annoyed with the shop floor staff. Many times I have had to put up with disparaging remarks from staff. If I dare say, ‘May I just take this or that which has just been reduced, I have been barked at – let me put it on the shelves first!!!? If you’re near them when they are reducing the tickets, they huff and puff and sigh …. One chap, the other day, shouted across the isle to one of the other staff members “Am I reducing this, what do they think I’m doing? Sick of answering stupid questions “ they really look down on customers who, like myself, need to go for the reduced food. Some of the staff can be really embarrassing and I’m getting really sick of the staff making me feel uncomfortable.
I am always courteous with staff and I wouldn’t mind getting reciprocal treatment.
Some of them are lovely and have a little chat with me about the food but others are downright horrible. I know customer service is a difficult job and realise they must have nasty customers to deal with but, please don’t treat all your obviously struggling people who simply have to get the bargains in order to eat nice quality food and when we get it, speaking for myself only, I am delighted. There aren’t many yellow labels these days as I believe a lot goes to food banks now. I can’t use food banks but I am really struggling and I do what I can to survive. I really don’t need staff treating me like an outcast just because I have to watch the pennies. I don’t want to name the town where I shop because I don’t want anyone to get in trouble for not making sure that the staff are not treating customers as well as they should.
I was just in the process of writing to the store manager to declare my issues with the treatment I often receive.
Let’s hope that the new stores make sure that the staff are trained appropriately, otherwise they may as well not bother opening more stores ….

Marks and Spencer- so bland and everything own brand- it's like shopping in some Soviet era Commie store- no variety at all and their packaging is boring- totally depressing experience!!!

Too little too late. They are only in huge malls out of town. Lost their food base to Waitrose. Lost me online shopping, quality worse than Primark, trouser legs different length! M&S, nah..

✝By this Gospel you are 𝗦𝗔𝗩𝗘𝗗 (For by grace you have been saved through faith; and this is not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not a result of works, so that no one may boast.) if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain. For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that He was buried, that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures. (1 Co 15: 2-4) (Eph 2:8-9)

✝ For God so greatly 𝓁𝑜𝓋𝑒𝒹 and dearly prized the world, that He gave His One and only begotten Son, so that whoever 𝗕𝗘𝗟𝗜𝗘𝗩𝗘𝗦 in Him shall not perish (in hell) but have Eternal life (in Heaven). (John 3:16)

A.I. facial recognition tool to detect adult migrants posing as children

Published

on

By

An AI facial recognition tool that aims to detect adult migrants posing as children will be deployed at the UK’s borders next year.

The software will estimate a person’s age by analysing photographs of them taken at the border.

The Home Office says the technology will make it easier to identify adult migrants “attempting to game the system”, after initial testing indicated “promising performance and accuracy”.

But Human Rights Watch urged the government to scrap the scheme, describing it as “unproven technology” that will undermine the protections vulnerable children are entitled to.
