Be funny if the uk pulls a us and makes it illegal to cede from the union then just shoot anyone who resists

I support Scottish independence, but not a Scottish republic, we should reinstate a Stuart!

If Boris Johnson wants to stay in power he’ll have to give Scotland their independence to keep a majority government

Greens and snp coalition will slowly implode . When the voters take their revenge on both parties .

I'm Scottish and I will always vote for the SNP (as they are an effective voice for Scotland). I will however never vote for independence.

5:10 good list of differences, show that the Scottish Greens are a high integrity group that wants to outline what future Scottish elections will be fighting over.

S N P after independence will inevitably splinter and Greens will retain momentum and gain ex SNP support that only wanted to stay in the big bloc to get independence.

Green Party of England & Wales is captured by corrupt interests and will soon be gifting nuclear reactors and weapons to Israel and Saudi Arabia.

Surgeon has hamstrung Holyrood. Going green is something we all do. However to have it shoved down your throat is another matter. I think Sturgeon will ditch the Greens because her popularity is plunging in Scotland since she bought Greens into government

The Greens were in government in Germany 20+ years ago.

The biggest hurdle with Green parties is their own stubbornness about oil and gas. While many people agree they want it gone, economies and energy grids are built on it. And it takes times to build new infrastructure and shift economies to new sources. And they don't seem very accepting of that idea. They want oil and gas gone now but they are light on what would fill that void.

    December 24, 2023 at 11:53 pm

Actually, the Greens in Germany have already held Government positions back when Schröder was Chancellor (at the turn of the century).

Unfortunatly here in Canada the greens went from 6% to 2% in the last election.

I don’t think it will matter at the end of the day Westminster still how the finale say in Independence. It’s a long standing constitutional convention. So no matter what the Scotland parliament looks like Westminster can and probably will say no. Then add in poles shows that most of the rest of the kingdom does not want Scotland to leave. Westminster can bank on that. Just my opinion but I think everyone is being a bit optimistic about the likelihood of a second referendum happening.

I like this coalition. I prefer the Greens policies. I am from North East England, and I really am tempted to move across the border into Scotland so I can vote for independence & get away from the greed & selfishness from the Tories & South who seem to enjoy being toxic & punishing people.

  19. @TheMarioManiac

    December 24, 2023 at 11:53 pm

Even though the snp did win the election most of the votes went towards pro union parties like labour & conservatives over the snp.

I agree on a more independent Scotland, but what im hearing is a lot of extra spending on benefits and teachers… where is the money gonna come from??, isnt Scotland in a deficit already? And the greens want to get rid of using oil? that's just simply unrealistic expectations in my opinion.

Well looks like the UK is on its way out.

One advantage we have is that over 90% of our electricity comes from renewable sources and we make tons more than we need. Say another country (let's just say Germany (btw don't know how much of Germany's electricity is renewaboe so if I'm making it sound worse than it is pls correct me) ) suddenly had to turn off all non-climate friendly electricity providers it would lead to a crisis whereas if we had to di that it'd barely be noticable.

While the Tories and England’s gammon are hell bent on voting for the Tories, Scottish independence is guaranteed.

It seems pretty much a certainty that Andy Burnham will be the next British prime minister. Exactly when it happens depends on a few factors. We outline some of the reasons an early general election is likely.
