Donald Trump trial date set – BBC News
Former US president Donald Trump will face trial on 4 March 2024, for his alleged effort to overturn the 2020 election.
This is the day before Super Tuesday, the biggest voting day in the Republican race.
The trial would pull Mr Trump off the campaign trail for a pivotal stretch of his campaign. He has vowed to appeal the trial date ruling.

Social media giant Meta has agreed to a $18bn (ÂŖ13.3bn) settlement with US states and territories to resolve claims that Facebook and Instagram harmed children.
A California judge approved the settlement, which Meta must pay to 48 states, plus the District of Columbia and three US territories, marking the company’s largest payment over child safety litigation to date.
Meta will also implement a host of changes aimed at better protecting kids online, which the states had demanded, including default daily time limits and night-time blocks.
Meta has denied any wrongdoing as part of the settlement and said on Wednesday that the payment it agreed to “will be distributed in annual instalments over a 10-year period”.

Prime Minister Andy Burnham has told the BBC that PC Andrew Harper’s killers will remain behind bars as he announces changes to the early release scheme aimed at easing prison overcrowding.Â
In an exclusive interview with BBC Breakfast, Burnham said anyone convicted of manslaughter will be excluded from changes brought in under the Sentencing Act, which would have made the killers eligible for early release.Â
Burnham said extra prison spaces would be created by deporting “hundreds” of foreign prisoners and releasing some inmates serving indefinite sentences.Â

Bill Clinton had a judge state that a President cannot be indicted for being in possession of "classified" documents. The Constitution states that indictments should not interfere with elections. A little home work required. Hunter Biden gets cases timed out and sweet heart deals. Joe Biden's trail of millions seems to by pass the mainstream media, FBI and DOJ. Meanwhile, not a word about the unravelling Biden scandal that will make Watergate look like a parking ticket.
Over 170 suspicious activity flags issued by the Bidens' bankers, $20-30 million (to date) going to the Bidens through 20 shell companies (that appear to have no product, nor offer any legitimate services) from China, Ukraine, Romania, Russia.
Even at a more mundane level, where's the outrage over Biden not only keeping classified documents at several unsecured private locations, he took classified documents with him when he was a senator. What about when Hillary Clinton was – subpoenaed to hand over to the FBI 33,000 emails she illegally held on her private servers, in contravention of state security law. She erased them and had the hardware destroyed – with impunity. Right now, the US under the Dems' administration looks very much like a banana republic.
