What economic benefits on it's own, the economic benefits of HS2 is the fact that most HI speed train services from Scotland, the North West and Birmingham travelling to London will transfer from the existing WCML to the HS2 route so opening up the existing WCML to more freight trains and passenger services, thats the economical benefit of HS2,

The people who wrote the original coat budget didn't know what they were doing. All Cost Consultants are the same- no understanding of what they are doing. It is rather like getting an airline pilot to perform a heart transplant. Or a greengrocer to build a!space craft.

It wouldn't have been so bad had it not only took-in just English routes …….. Scotland and Wales are not even included in this vanity-project network, but yet still have to contribute to the cost via our taxes …….. hardly fair, huh?

I give very good odds it never gets further than Birmingham. If for no other reason than cost over runs.

It's huge white elephant. When it is completed, you have to pay extra to be able to travel on it – and that will be for more well-off people. The vast majority of the population won't benefit from it.

19th century age if the Train, 20th century age of the Motor Car (toot, toot) and the 21st century age of the hypersonic flying saucer car London to Edinburgh in 4 mins 32 seconds. Hahaha. Typical politicians no vision, no expertise just plenty of money to waste on 19th century technology. Choo, choo. Hahaha. What a set of losers.

    December 24, 2023 at 1:03 am

you seem to forget how many people are being employed on this project and how much tax is being generated from wages and material etc

I used to from Stafford to London (,Euston) in 120 minutes. Sometimes 90 minutes. Incredible. HS2. is vain insanity.

Now there's a suprise, Not. Remember when David Cameron said it was going to cost £60 Billion ? 😂😂😂😂Now projected to be £150 Billion. This, along with the £70 Billion in Furlough payments, + the Billions its costing us to keep the thousands of illegals entering the country every week is the reason we are all going to be paying high taxes for the foreseeable future. HS2 was a vanity project, payed for by the Majority, but to be used by the minority of rich. Lets face it, Joe Public will not be able to afford to travel on it.

Spending on infrastructure is misleading because the government claws back the money in tax. Not taking a position just saying it's like you putting an extension on your house.

    December 24, 2023 at 1:03 am

HS2, Rwanda, PPE's, and now France…. someone's having a laugh, and an obscene amount of leeway in frittering away the economy; and guess who's paying?
