Americans are reacting to President Donald Trump’s escalating feud with Pope Leo XIV and the backlash surrounding an AI-generated image depicting the president as a Jesus-like figure, which has since been deleted.
On Monday, Trump posted a lengthy Truth Social message attacking the pontiff, who has been a vocal critic of the US and Israeli military operations in Iran.
He criticised the Pope, calling him “weak on crime” and “terrible for foreign policy”.
The Pope said on Monday that he has “no fear” of the Trump administration or “speaking out loudly of the message of the Gospel, which is what I believe I am here to do”.

US President Donald Trump said US-Iran talks could restart in Pakistan “in the next two days”, though Iran is yet to comment.
He also said the war is “very close to over”, in a preview of an interview released by Fox News.
Meanwhile, Israel’s attacks on Hezbollah targets in Lebanon continue, after it held talks with the Lebanese government in the US on Tuesday.

Why have you not corrected this article to indicate that the New York Times had investigated this bombing and found that it was a Ukrainian bomb fired by the Ukrainian army that hit and killed these people, not a Russian one? Or does that not fit the narrative that the BBC News wants their readers to believe?

This is a Ukrainian artillery strike on RUSSIAN town. Donetsk voted to separate from UKR years ago, just like Crimea.
