It seems pretty much a certainty that Andy Burnham will be the next British prime minister. Exactly when it happens depends on a few factors. We outline some of the reasons an early general election is likely.

It is often best to wait a few years before judging a government's performance, particularly in a time of crisis. I would have never voted Tory, nor would I have voted for Brexit. Nothing would surprise me less than if it turns out that Johnson is incompetent. However, I will still wait to form a more definite view of how his government has performed.

Flexibility is needed in a situation like this, but the Government were warned that that these actions would fail before they were implemented, but failed to listen. If the public, the press and the opposition can foresee imminent disaster, why can’t the Government?

December 21, 2023 at 9:00 am
There have been some bad Governments over the years and I have voted in a few of them, but Boris the Buffoon (and his cabinet) has to be the worst Government and PM we have had in a Century. In a time of crisis, the public needs strong leadership, 100% honesty and genuine empathy, none of which has been demonstrated. Instead, we've had smug grins, empty promises, no ownership for the outcome of decisions and complex, confusing guidance costing the UK lives, jobs and an eye-watering national debt. Well done!!

Inaccuracy in the video:
It has ALWAYS been the scientific consensus that wearing a mask reduces the spread of any airborne disease, and it was known from the VERY START that SARS-COV-2 was airborne.

As much as I hate to agree with Boris Johnson – most of those U-turns seem like commonsense reactions to an unprecedented and changing situation. A government that does not react to changing reality by changing policy is just a menace.

Nothing wrong with U turns if it's found they don't work. A lot of these came a day after an initial announcement. Not long enough to show they wouldn't work. Which to me shows a lack of foresight, communication between government bodies or possibly trying to hedge bets to see public reaction before an actual plan is shown.
