How we verify social media posts from the war in Ukraine – BBC News
There are terabytes of photos and videos of the war in Ukraine circulating online. Mixed in with genuine footage is misleading content including videos made to look as if they have been produced by the BBC.
How do you tell if a photo or video posted online is real or fake? Here’s a look at how the BBC’s Disinformation team check and verify content shared online about the war in Ukraine.

Iceland has voted against resuming membership talks with the European Union, public broadcaster RUV has reported, with just one constituency’s votes left to count.
It reported that 52.5% of the 188,496 votes so far counted had rejected the government’s proposal, while 47.5% had said yes. Some 9,500 votes separated them.
Prime Minister Kristrún Frostadóttir’s centre-left government promised to hold a referendum by 2027, but brought it forward because of international tensions, including US President Donald Trump’s threats against Greenland.

And what is "BBC Verify", how does it justify or even prove its verification is right or true, does its presenters have correspondence with "New Scotland Yard" or even the London Met police, helping them investigate their verifications, the answer is probably "No"!

The @BBCNews is now trying to take the moral high ground by creating a whole new department called @bbcverrify. As one of the most UNTRUSTED sources of news, this is just another piece of propaganda, but no one is buying it. The @BBC is a family company spending public money. All information put out by the BBC itself needs to be verified. The #UKrain war has exposed Western Media.

The BBC’s misinformation team? Christ you people have been busy over the last three years – I can’t keep up with all the government sponsored misinformation the BBC has peddled! The BBC used to have a reputation for integrity and impartiality, but not any more. Shame on them for their lack of questioning and investigative journalism. During the Covid nonsense they peddled an alleged daily Covid death toll, but right now we have an unprecedented excess death rate and not a peep. I don’t believe a word the organisation puts out.
