Lily James on confidence, criticism and starring in Rebecca | Full Disclosure | Bazaar UK
Lily James has some sage advice for anyone who’s struggling to deal with their inner critic. “Talk to yourself like you’re talking to your friend,” she told us from the set of her Harper’s Bazaar cover shoot. “You’re your own worst critic, which is so ridiculous. Why can’t we be kind to ourselves like we are to our friends?”
James takes on the role of the second Mrs de Winter in a new adaptation of Daphne du Maurier’s Rebecca – alongside Armie Hammer and Kristin Scott Thomas – and it was a role that was perfect for her to play at this particular time in her life, she explains.
“Rebecca’s one of my favourite books, so when the opportunity came around to play the second Mrs de Winter I just couldn’t resist it,” she said. “She’s such an extraordinary character. I was so intrigued by the disparity between how she thinks of herself and how she comes across. I think that’s something that I’ve been exploring in myself so it was this golden moment to play her.”

John Galliano presented a 20-look collection in an intimate salon setting on Avenue Foch in Paris, shifting away from large-scale spectacle toward a more contained presentation format.
The collection revisited his long-standing references to 1930s-inspired tailoring and cinematic glamour, expressed through sharply constructed jackets, pencil skirts, and bias-cut silhouettes. Fabrics alternated between structured and fluid, with tailored wool pieces contrasted against silk slips, organza layers, and latex-treated surfaces.
Key looks included cropped and distressed jackets styled over slim skirts, silk plaids in dégradé finishes worn over slipdresses, and layered combinations of sheer organza and coated textures. Eveningwear focused on draped gowns and elongated silhouettes, often defined by soft gathering, halter necklines, and asymmetric construction.

Lily is so intelligent and incredibly beautiful, why she would dumb herself down and ran after a married man is beyond me. Maybe I’d give her the benefit of the doubt if she was a regular person and didn’t know he was married. But she has access to google this man AND 99% chance she probably knows the same people as him. Even regular people can look a person up on Facebook and see if they’re with someone 🤦♀️ don’t feel sorry for her for a second. I keep that energy with both her and Dominic.

Well personally I don't give a shit what the rest of you think. I love her sweetness and her vulnerability in this interview. She may or may not have knowingly made a mistake but, either way, I will continue to support her. Having met her, she is actually a very nice and kind person and I won't forget her warmth to me.

I need to put it out there everyone is going at poor Lily for the Dominic West thing when he was the MARRIED MAN and he had a choice. Lily made a mistake but don’t we all! Lilly, I admire the fact that you made a “mistake” and yet, you are back into the spotlight with an incredibly humble and sincere approach to life.
And working hard to promote your film. A film somewhat close to what you are experiencing, it must be incredibly difficult to navigate all the media and people so quick to judgement . While married men get away with very little heat or media hatred for their rendezvous.
