Israel says military campaign in Gaza may last months – BBC News
Israel’s Defence Minister Yoav Gallant says the military’s campaign in Gaza “may take a month, two or three, but at the end there will be no more Hamas”.
Gallant was speaking after operational briefing at the Israeli Air Force Operations Command and Control Centre.
“In terms of the operational aspects of manoeuvring, at the end of the day, nothing will stop the IDF (Israel Defence Forces)”, he said.
“This should be our last manoeuvring operation in Gaza, for the simple reason that afterwards there will be no more Hamas.”
The minister also said the next stage, a widely-anticipated ground operation, “will come soon” – but how soon remains unclear.

Hawk Fire wildfire in Nevada expected to rage for another two days, say officials | BBC News
US fire crews have reported progress in their efforts to tackle a large wildfire menacing the city of Reno, Nevada – saying the blaze is about a quarter contained.
The Hawk Fire, which began on Saturday, had spread over 15,000 acres by Monday, firefighters said.
Evacuation orders remain in place for 23,000 people, though other residents have now been allowed to return to their homes. Tens of thousands of other residents have been told to be ready to leave at any moment.
Officials are concerned that gusts of wind could drive the flames towards more homes. Unfavourable weather conditions are forecast for the next two days, meaning the fire could continue to burn during that timeframe.

London and Istanbul have streets taken over by tens of thousands of pro-Palestine protesters
Tens of thousands of people invaded the streets of London and Istanbul this Saturday (28) to demand a ceasefire in the war between Israel and Hamas.
In the UK, rallies were also organized in other parts of the country, including Manchester and Glasgow. In London, protesters gathered with banners and posters and released fireworks and red and green flares.
Last weekend, around 100,000 people also took to the streets in the British capital for the same reasons. Today's demonstration (28) expects a higher number, however, it has not yet been released.

At least 200 Jews are arrested by US police in protest in support of Palestine
Hundreds of people were arrested this Friday (27), after police broke up a large protest at Grand Central Station, in New York. The demonstration, in support of Gaza, was called by the Jewish group Jewish Voice for Peace.
According to information from the New York Police Department, at least 200 people were arrested. Organizers say the number is closer to 300.
The protest was called by the New York chapter of the non-governmental organization Jewish Voice for Peace. The NGO stated that thousands of its members attended the protest, and that it was "the largest civil disobedience New York City has seen in the last 20 years."
The group had already held another protest in Washington two weeks ago, where hundreds of other protesters were also arrested.
