Why Millennials aren’t Getting more Conservative as they Get Older

Published

on

TLDR Daily Briefing: https://youtube.com/tldrdaily

Conventional wisdom suggests that as you get older you get more conservative – it happened to our parents and grand parents. However, new data about millennial suggests that they’re actually getting less Conservative, which is a big issue for the Tories..

I believe that boomers still have most of the wealth. Once the wealth is passed down to millennials, they will start to become more conservative.

Yeah right at least for me. I hate the left , but don’t get it wrong because I hate the right to. It’s both stupid left, right whatever bunch of bull crap how about this something that takes power away from governments and puts it into peoples hands and not some thing like a dumb retarded idea like …hmmmmmmm I don’t know, communism?
It’s basically just the exact same people would be running the show. They are the ones giving you the idea like oh you don’t like us try communism not that blatant though. Anyways, it doesn’t even matter nothing matters. I wish I would implode somehow, or burst in the flames spontaneously for no reason if I really had one, wish it would be that the entirety of our solar system got sucked up into a mega black hole.

I hope that we Millennials will be remembered and revered as the ones who destroyed conservatism. One avocado toast at a time.

The cock wombles who hiked up students fees for university now want those same students to keep them in government 😂.

Fat chance, within 10 years the Tories will go the way of the Wigs.

    They will be dead.

This is really fascinating data and ig we assume that this trend will go on with gen z then we can expect a huge shift to the left in the next few years.

I’m 35 and was conservative most of my life. I actually became more center right as I got older. The problems the left bring up are valid, the reason I shifted is because old and out-of-touch conservatives and their “nobody wants to work anymore” bullshit.
They know nothing what my generation goes through, and what the one after mine goes through.

Either way I hate Republicans and Democrats 🤷‍♂️. Not the people but the politicians. Love my right and left people.

Because to think other than on the left is to be attacked and considered social unexceptable. A family member of mine had a social media platform which was called I hate Tories. Their fake compasion is made up of self-righteous intolerance and anger and hate. I rejected their hypocrisy when I was 16 and I enjoy the fight but most people don't want to stand up to what is a unpleasent mob mentality who are not open to the flaws within their own ideology. Because if their were they would have to except that they are wrong on many things.

There are a couple of new polls out that show you are incorrect. The entire time I’ve been in the US and the entire 22 years I’ve been able to vote here I have been repeatedly told that same line. Eventually conservatives and Republicans will vanish like the old south as they age and die. That wasn’t true then it’s not true now. As you grow older and you actually have more things that you like to keep and you decide you’d like to keep more of your money for yourself then spend it on people who are not willing to work for it. I voted democrat until 2012. That was my last vote for a Democrat and it might be the last in my lifetime. I’m actually ashamed of all the years I spent firmly entrenched in that brainwashing. I’m ashamed I ever trusted what I was being told.

UK Millennials are too young to have ever known the Labour govt. and the chaos of the 70s. neither have they known true conservatism. They are simply desperate for change and an improvement in their lives. So what do you do? Blame the govt. that has been in power for most of your conscious history. Nothing will change however, despite who is in power, because the causes of economic degradation are deeply structural and related to demography and changes to globalisation and energy prices. basically the prosperity was built on cheap energy, a population boom from 1945 to 1965 and imported Chinese deflation, all 3 are now disappearing and can never return.

As an older American millennial I see no viable conservative party.

  30. @jeffafa3096

    December 19, 2023 at 7:05 pm

I'm a millennial, and I am very much a left-wing voter. And among all my friends I see a lot of other left-wing voters. However, I don't think it has much to do with home ownership or having children. I have a pretty decent salary, can rent a multi-room apartment, and have no desire to have children. A lot of my friends are in a similar situation.

I think it has far more to do with an international oriented focus. We've all seen so much misery and suppression in the world, and we've seen a lot of beautiful words from conservatives, but never any change. Millennials know their way around the internet, are generally well informed of the state of the world, and probably don't attribute home ownership or family values solely to conservatives anymore.

Gen Z is following the same trend of being more leftist. Conservatives are on a losing path, because young people see scandal after scandal, and hear a lot of beautiful talk but see no action. Young people are simply fed up with conservative BS, and see through it more and more often.

  31. @WeissTreufel

    December 19, 2023 at 7:05 pm

I disagree. I am a Millennial. I understand economics well enough to know that the Bush Administration was entirely responsible for the recession, not to mention much more. I graduated in 2008, right when it all went down. I fully blame republicans for literally fucking up my future. I'll never vote for a republican, so long as I live…. Just about everyone my age that I know in my personal life feels similarly.

  32. @cirtainrod9492

    December 19, 2023 at 7:05 pm

Coz we have been had. The economy no longer benefits gen x and onwards.

  33. @cal5566

    December 19, 2023 at 7:05 pm

The problem with home ownership that I've personally seen is that there is such a large wealth gap that when new houses are built they're bought and moved into by bombers, gen x. The problem being with that is that they don't sell their old homes to new families, it's either put up for rent/holiday let or bought by someone else of the older generations for cash, with the same intentions I just said. The statement I heard on another video of future generations being split into two categories of 'the haves and the have nots' is so true, and the have nots are growing with each generation that can't get onto the property ladder or save money due to the cost of living. Seems to me like the only way soon to have a traditional life will be to move to a developing country and get caught in the economic wave

Could Another Brexit Debate End Farage?

Nigel Farage said Andy Burnham’s comments about potentially rejoining the EU had given him “the biggest boost in [his] career”. We look at why — even if it seems counter-intuitive — another Brexit debate could actually hurt Farage.

Before the Brexit referendum, a whole bunch of MPs explained to Britain how the economy would collapse post-Brexit. While Brexit hasn’t yet happened, some did say that the destruction would take place immediately after the vote; which didn’t exactly happen as expected. So in this video, we explain what’s happened and why the economy hasn’t done too badly in the end.
