Israel targets Hamas’s labyrinth of tunnels under Gaza – BBC News
Israel says it is striking parts of a secret labyrinth of tunnels built underneath the Gaza Strip by Hamas, as it continues to retaliate for the Palestinian Islamist militant group’s unprecedented cross-border attack on Saturday.
“Think of the Gaza Strip as one layer for civilians and then another layer for Hamas. We are trying to get to that second layer that Hamas has built,” an Israel Defense Forces (IDF) spokesperson said in a video on Thursday.
Warplanes could also drop “bunker busting” bombs, which penetrate deep into the ground before detonating. However, they would pose a risk of collateral damage due to the dense urban terrain.

Counter terrorism police are now leading the investigation into the death of former Conservative minister Ann Widdecombe, after “new information and evidence has come to light”, Counter Terrorism Policing South East (CTPSE) has said.
“The police are pursuing multiple lines of enquiry to establish the motivation for this attack. I will be updating the House further this afternoon,” Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood said.
A 28-year-old white British man from Rotherham, South Yorkshire, was originally arrested on suspicion of murder on Saturday but has now been re-arrested “on suspicion of commission, preparation or instigation of acts of terrorism”, CTPSE said.
Police said the “dynamic and complex investigation” had led to the new arrest.
On Thursday, 78-year-old Widdecombe was found dead at her home in Haytor, Devon, having sustained serious injuries.

Three members of his government, including Home Office minister Jess Phillips, have resigned, whilst scores of Labour MPs are calling for him to quit following a disastrous set of elections for the party last week.
Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood is among a number of cabinet ministers urging the prime minister to set out a departure timetable.
Sir Keir said he does not intend to quit and threw down the gauntlet to potential rivals to formally challenge him as Labour leader.
No MP has yet launched a formal bid to challenge him, which requires the backing of 81 colleagues or 20% of Labour MPs, according to party rules.

The US said it has hit “dozens” of Iranian military targets in overnight attacks, in response to Iran hitting commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz.
The military said it struck “air-defense systems, coastal radar sites, missile and drone capabilities, and small boats”, using aircraft, ships, and drones – including “one-way attack sea drones for the first time”.
“The Strait of Hormuz is a vital maritime corridor for global trade,” the US military said. “Iran does not control it”.
In response, Iran said it targeted US bases in Jordan, Bahrain, and Kuwait and also radar systems in Oman.

President Donald Trump has said the US is reinstating a naval blockade of Iranian ports and will impose a 20% charge on all cargo shipped through the Strait of Hormuz following days of escalating strikes between the two countries.
He said this would stop “Iran’s ships or customers” from entering or leaving the key oil shipping route, but “all other countries will have fair and open use of the Strait”.
Iran’s foreign minister later said whoever provides safe passage “should be compensated for this service”, but Iran would remain the strait’s “GUARDIAN” – using Trump’s word.
Tehran and Washington clashed over the strait’s control after exchanging strikes in the region overnight and on Monday.
The US said it carried out strikes against military targets in Iran, targeting air defence systems, coastal radars, and missile and drone sites. Iran said it responded by striking US military bases in Kuwait, Jordan and Bahrain, and radars in Oman.

Like many of you, I have been watching the developing news regarding the recent conflict in Israel. The attack by Hamas terrorists against innocent Israeli citizens is “horrific” to say the least. These terrorists carried out their demonic attack with shouts of “Allahu Akbar,” Allah/God is great!
But the God they magnify is a “thief!” Jesus said their god has only one agenda, to “steal, kill and to destroy!” But Christ came that we may have “life and have it more abundantly!” (John 10:10).
Last weekend in 1 Peter 4:7, we saw where the apostle Peter exhorted believers in his day with these words – “the end of all things is at hand.” It is hard for us today not to look at the events unfolding in Israel and not be reminded of Peter’s words. Indeed, the Lord is coming soon!
Jesus declared, “…no man knows the hour, not even the angels or the Son, only the Father knows” (Mark 13:32). We may not know the day and the hour, but we can know the “season.” We are living in that season!
The stage is being set for the “prophetic” invasion of Israel, in three ways. (1) Russia coming from the north. Ezekiel 38:2 – tells us that “Gog, of the land of Magog, the prince of Rosh,”which is modern-day Russia; will lead an invasion against Israel from the north, accompanied by other nations.
I believe the Ukrainian war is possibly the match that has lit Russia’s unbridled ambition, to launch a campaign into the Middle East, to overthrow Israel, as Ezekiel 38 has prophesied!
(2) China’s invasion of Israel. China – (a.k.a.), “Kings,” (rulers), along with other nations from the east, will also rise up against Israel (Revelation 16:12). They will be gathered to a place Scripture calls, “Armageddon,” (a.k.a.) “mount of Megiddo” (Revelation 16:16). Megiddo is located 91 kilometers (57 miles) north of Jerusalem.
China is poised to invade Taiwan. As with Russia, the CCP (Chinese Communist Party) has global ambitions and will not stop with the overthrow of Taiwan.
(3) Absence of western intervention. When the invasion of Israel climaxes with the battle of Armageddon, it is interesting in Scripture there is no mention of western intervention, namely intervention on behalf of the “United States”!
Revelation 18:15-18 is interesting, in that it addresses “Babylon,” not the ancient city, but a costal morally bankrupt city, or nation. The angel cried out in Revelation 18:2, “Babylon the great has fallen.”
As a result of its fall the merchants, who imported and exported goods by means of the sea, will be reluctant to draw near to Babylon, due to her torment, “devastation!” Revelation 18 tells us the merchants wept; (Revelation 18:18) “…and cried out when they saw the smoke of her burning, saying, 'What is like this great city?’
I believe Babylon mentioned in Revelation 18 is America! Some may disagree, and that’s fine. I cannot think of another nation as wealthy as ours that would cause the merchants of the entire world to weep at its “destruction.” The destruction may not be nationwide, but the destruction disrupts a major source (port) of international trade.
The neutralization of America, Israel’s greatest ally, will not only be due to a catastrophic event, but also a godless ideology: an ideology that governs our social and political systems.
As I watch the news coverage related to the atrocities carried out by Hamas terrorists, I am alarmed by the reaction of thousands of American protesters in New York City and elsewhere. These “pro-Hamas” supporters were calling for the murder of more Jews!
Freedom of speech is protected under our Constitution. But what has become sadly apparent in America today, is the loss or denial of our Judeo-Christian heritage.
One young woman being interviewed, who is Jewish American, shared on a news channel, that she always wondered how her friends and other people would have reacted during the rise of Nazi propaganda in the 1930s. She lamented, after seeing so many pro-Hamas protesters turn out in New York City, “I think I have my answer!”
We definitely live in a day whereby good is now evil, and evil is good! How anyone can celebrate the slaughter of 40 babies murdered by Hamas as “good” is beyond human reasoning! (New York Times/Fox News/NBC)
Antisemitism has permeated American colleges and culture. I can only see our nation and politicians growing more and more “anti-Israel” in the future, apart from God’s divine intervention!
We know, as the apostle Peter said, “…the end of all things is at hand.” But I pray God will be merciful and pour out a mighty “revival” upon His church and a “great awakening” across America! (1 Peter 4:17a) “For the time has come for judgment to begin at the house of God.”
As believers, let us find our eternal courage and comfort in our “faithful creator!” “Jesus is coming soon!” In the most desperate of times the Lord exhorts us to “fear not!”
(Isaiah 41:10) Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.'
Remember Jesus said: (Luke 21:28) “Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near."
The time in which we live calls for “spiritual rebels.” Let us focus, not on the situations we can change, but on the One who can change us for the situation! Yes, the hour is “late,” but God is always right on time!

My question is, why is Egypt and Arab nation was adamant to give refuge to the Palestinian people when Israel bombarded Gaza? Did Egypt and the Arab world learned their lessons that they are a threat to their national security because Palestinians supports terrorism and will bring instability and security threat to their nation?
