Israel-Gaza war: Inside the West Bank’s divided areas – BBC Newsnight

Published

on

Fourteen Palestinians were killed and at least 20 were injured in an Israeli raid into the West Bank’s Jenin refugee camp last week, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry.

These raids are almost nightly in the Israeli search for Hamas gunmen – a group proscribed as a terrorist organisation by the UK and other governments.

According to the UN this year, more than 400 Palestinians – both militants and civilians – have been killed by both Israeli forces or by settlers in the occupied West Bank.

BBC Newsnight’s Joe Inwood has been speaking to communities in the West Bank.

Oct 7 feels like it was somehow staged for the purpose of Israel taking over more Palestinian land. Why so little video of Oct 7 in an age of cell phones. Just feels manufactured in some way and it being borne out by the further illegal invasion of Palestine. Why would Hamas conduct a one off attack knowing they would give Netanyahu the exact excuse he needed to invade?

The Israel-Palestine conflict demands a swift and effective response to prevent further humanitarian catastrophe. The urgency for a ceasefire is clear, and diplomatic solutions must be prioritized. Global leaders should unite to bring both parties to the negotiating table and work towards a lasting resolution for the benefit of all affected communities.

Gaza Marine is a natural gas field off the coast of the Gaza Strip. The Gaza Marine natural gas field is located in water about 36 kilometres (22 mi) offshore at a depth of 2,000 feet (610 m).[1] The field was discovered in 2000 by BG Group and it is estimated to contain more than 1 trillion cubic feet of natural gas.

On 18 June 2023, the Israeli government gave preliminary approval for its development.

The right is! England has already made use of Zelensky and now has to accept that he is no longer useful!

Western politicians conspire against Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky and want to betray him, wrote British journalist Con Coughlin in an article in The Telegraph.
"The West conspired to sell out Ukraine. American and European leaders are tired of Kiev's demands and are ready to betray Zelensky's fighters," he said.

Five years on from the Taliban’s takeover of Afghanistan | BBC News

Published

on

It has been five years since the Taliban retook control of Afghanistan, as western forces left, imposing their extreme, ultra-conservative interpretation of Islam on millions of people.

Their return to power brought relative peace to the country after two decades of war.

But Afghan women have been erased from public life. Girls are banned from school from the age of 12, and aren’t allowed to go to university.

Public parks are also off limits to women – and they can’t travel abroad without a male companion.
