Israel-Gaza: The devastating effect of war on Gaza’s children – BBC News

Published

on

The Hamas-run health ministry in Gaza says more than 10,000 people have been killed in the Palestinian territory since Israel started bombing it last month.

More than 4,000 of those killed were children, the ministry said.

The number surpasses the UN’s figure of about 5,400 killed in Gaza in all of Israel’s previous conflicts with Hamas since it took control of the territory in 2007.

Israel began bombing Gaza after Hamas killed 1,400 people and kidnapped more than 200 others on 7 October.

It says it is destroying Hamas infrastructure and killing its fighters so that it will no longer be able to pose a threat to Israel.
The BBC’s Fergal Keane reports on the children suffering in Gaza, and the impact the war is having on them and their families.

For those who justify Israel's attack and bombing on Gaza to get rid of Hamas I don't know if you know that Israel has been killing, arresting, and beating thousands of innocent people and children every year since 1948. Even before 7/10, regardless of the depressing life they had been living for decades, they were deliberately causing fatal injuries to them all these years. But if, as you say, Israel killed all these innocent people only because of Hamas, then let me remind you that Hamas was not present in the mosques, but they were bombed. Hamas was not in ambulances but they were bombed. Hamas was not in the churches but they were bombed. Hamas was not in the bakeries, but they were bombed. It was not in the schools, but they were bombed. It was not in the hospitals, but they were bombed too – I am sure you know that Israel’s claim on the hospitals is a lie and fake-. Although Hamas is only present in Gaza, Israel has been bombing areas of the West Bank and other Palestinian areas free of Hamas with heavy bombardment, killing hundreds of innocent people. Did you know that schools (shelter centres) for displaced persons containing thousands of innocent people whose homes were destroyed were bombed? Those Palestinians arrived at these schools by order of Israel, as these areas should be safe but they were surprised that Israel had bombed them there as well. Does it mean to kill Hamas or innocents? Is cutting off fuel, thus cutting off the breathing apparatus of prenatal babies in SCBU and causing all of them to die, a way to get rid of Hamas? 50 days of bombing, oppression, and ground invasion with tanks, snipers, weapons ships, and bombs from America, Australia, Germany, and other countries. It left 15,000 people dead, and Israel has not yet gotten rid of Hamas. So will we wait for them to annihilate Gaza under the excuse of getting rid of Hamas?
This is an excuse worse than a sin.

may their allah cry for mercy and not wait for the whole world to console and protect them. they could live in peace because the israeli people did not threaten them. they killed they burned Israelis alive they dismembered pregnant women and decapitated Israeli children all innocent and now you have no shame BBC News to present these Palestinians celebrating from children to women as innocent and innocent and old men when Israelis are killed. and the Israelis who survived also live with this trauma and with this Palestinian terror, what is happening to those Israelis?

I wonder why this otherwise corrupt and impartial television station does not present in this footage the Israeli parents whose children were killed by Palestinian terrorists to present this station which is called bbc and the pain and suffering of those who survived the Palestinian slaughter.

Don't be blaming Israel. Remember it was the terrorist group Hamas that started this conflict when they attacked Israel and took hostages. Palentine has been harbouring Hamas terrorists in their country for years. If it weren't for this fact they would not be getting their country bombed. Do your research and get your stories straight.

As the Israel-Palestine conflict unfolds, the urgency for peace is more evident than ever. Innocent lives are being disrupted, and a swift end to hostilities is imperative. Global leaders must intensify diplomatic efforts to bring both parties to the table and work towards a comprehensive and lasting resolution.

Now we are learning some of what is happening in Gaza, but after researching, it is very difficult as a human being to explain what was done in the past, as a result of years of oppression.

These people could apply to become Israeli citizens like the other 20% of Israeli citizens that are Arab. Instead they would rather support a terrorist organization as their elected government and want all Jews who came after 1948 to leave the country. They don't want to live in peace so why do they except to live in peace? They made a bad choice now they have to deal with the decision they made. It sucks for the children but the parents made their bed now they have to lay in it. Next time don't reject every offer at a two state solution and don't elect a terrorist organization as your official government.

I would be willing to bet the deed to my home that the propaganda Hamas forces these kids to watch is far more traumatic. I would also be the children Hamas has kidnapped is suffering from a traumatic time as well. I noticed you didn't mention them though. There is only one group to blame and their name is Hamas not Israel.

It IS sad the children suffer. But it is their own parents – their HAMAS supporting parents to blame for this. And they continue to endanger their own people, their own children. If they would surrender the hostages, and if HAMAS would surrender, and the Palestinian people denounce terrorist violence, and agree to a 2 state system – they could have a free a good life. But they continue to choose violence and death – even for their own children.

I do wonder what the effect is on the kidnapped Israeli children than remain captive by Palestinian Hamas terrorists in Gaza, if they haven't already been murdered by them. I wonder IF they survive how will they cope? Or do the Palestinians and this media news channel not give a damn about them. Fergul Keane, I suspect not. You and the rest of the media world seem to have conveniently forgotten about them.

US hits ‘dozens’ of Iranian sites in strikes, as Iran targets US bases in region | BBC News

Published

on

The US said it has hit “dozens” of Iranian military targets in overnight attacks, in response to Iran hitting commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz.

The military said it struck “air-defense systems, coastal radar sites, missile and drone capabilities, and small boats”, using aircraft, ships, and drones – including “one-way attack sea drones for the first time”.

“The Strait of Hormuz is a vital maritime corridor for global trade,” the US military said. “Iran does not control it”.

In response, Iran said it targeted US bases in Jordan, Bahrain, and Kuwait and also radar systems in Oman.

Trump demands 20% toll on cargos passing through strait of Hormuz | BBC News

Published

on

President Donald Trump has said the US is reinstating a naval blockade of Iranian ports and will impose a 20% charge on all cargo shipped through the Strait of Hormuz following days of escalating strikes between the two countries.

He said this would stop “Iran’s ships or customers” from entering or leaving the key oil shipping route, but “all other countries will have fair and open use of the Strait”.

Iran’s foreign minister later said whoever provides safe passage “should be compensated for this service”, but Iran would remain the strait’s “GUARDIAN” – using Trump’s word.

Tehran and Washington clashed over the strait’s control after exchanging strikes in the region overnight and on Monday.

The US said it carried out strikes against military targets in Iran, targeting air defence systems, coastal radars, and missile and drone sites. Iran said it responded by striking US military bases in Kuwait, Jordan and Bahrain, and radars in Oman.

Explosions have been heard near two Iranian port cities, Bandar Abbas and Bushehr, state media has reported.

It comes after another night of strikes between the US and Iran, with Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps saying it hit two UAE tankers in the Strait of Hormuz and targeted US facilities in Jordan and Bahrain.

The UAE called the attack “brazen”, adding that an Indian crew member was killed and eight others were injured.

Meanwhile, the US military says it completed strikes on targets aimed at degrading “Iran’s ability to attack commercial shipping” – Iranian state media reports three people were killed.

US launches more strikes on Iran and resumes naval blockade of ports | BBC News

Published

on

The US military said it was carrying out a new wave of strikes on targets in Iran. It said the aim of the attacks was to degrade Iran’s ability to attack shipping in the strait of Hormuz. It came ass the US Navy resumed its blockade of Iran’s ports.

Iran said that control of the strait of Hormuz was required for its national security and it will exercise sovereignty over the key shipping lane, whatever the cost.

President Trump announced that he was scrapping a plan he had announced a day earlier, for placing a 20% toll or tariff on all cargos passing through the strait of Hormuz.
