Any of this green energy stuff is only cost competitive with billions of our tax money. Switch off our tax stream and remeasure again for comparison. Robbing lying bastd.

Ideology based on the compilation and scientific consensus on what we should do to ensure our planet is still a safe place for all of us.
Then a privileged guy with no scientific knowledge tell us that science is not important but money is. Honouring commitment words coming from the guy who daid the UK should not commit to respect Brexit deal from day 1 without even implementing it while it was proposed by his own party. No shame.

GB News should be getting a qualified paleoclimatoligist onto the show instead of this activist Jim Dale. There are hundreds, even thousands, of qualified scientists who can tell you that a tiny increase in CO2 concentrations of just 0.01% does not cause a climate catastrophe. This Dale man just lies and lies. I’m sick of his type.

We have our own oil and gas from our own reserves and our government makes us pay 20 times the cost. With cheap fuel we could have low bills in our homes….We could have booming factories, ship building, steel yards and a life of Riley.
But No…the government hates it's own people and you just sit there as part of it instead of joining Reform.
    It's hopeless.

I never voted for this and it was never mentioned in any manifesto by any of our main party`s the insanity is such talk of blocking the sun out is being put forward as a possible solution to a problem that doesn`t even exist and how can oil be a fossil fuel given in most cases its pumped from well well below any fossil ever found to have ever existed so it can`t be a fossil fuel given nothing has ever lived at that depth

UK failure to develop the Sea Lion field would strengthen Argentina's claim on the islands through the UN de-colonisation process , because it would develop the field. Thus Arg would offer the Islanders prosperity denied by the UK.

Nobody ever mentions the 30 or so ice ages during the Quaternary (past 1.6 million years) and the inter-glacial warm periods the fastest we are in now. 12, 000 years ago Scotland was under 2 Km of Ice and the Dogger Bank in the middle of the North Sea was dry land. Climate is constantly changing. What will these idiots say when the next ice age hits us?

Is it possible to price fossil fuels for the domestic market and for surplus to be traded on the world markets, rather than all products extracted traded on global prices?
I thought you'd have a serious meteorologist on but we got a zealot who learned stuff about the weather.

  25. @peterchapman8357

    December 18, 2023 at 3:12 pm

we need to continue long term with fossil fuels for our energy and where possible obtain these from our own resources and keep costs down, the green energy sources are currently not adequate but i guess that with investment these will improve and maybe support our energy requirements in the future

Actually I think that agreeing not to drill in the Falklands we protect the sovereignty of the islands, because Argentins will also have to relinquish any claim to mineral rights, thus negating any benefit to their taking control of the Falklands.

In this week’s Chopper’s Political Podcast, Christopher Hope is joined by Tom Harwood and Katherine Forster to examine the growing debate around the UK state pension and the “triple lock.”

With Reform UK now joining other major parties in backing the policy, the discussion explores why the triple lock remains politically untouchable, despite rising concerns over its long-term cost. The panel breaks down how the system works, why it was introduced, and how it has helped reduce pensioner poverty, while also raising questions about fairness between generations.

They also look at the mounting financial pressures facing the UK, including the rising cost of pensions, slow economic growth, and an ageing population. Could the triple lock become unsustainable in the future? And if so, what alternatives might be considered?
