‘Xanax’ linked to more than 200 deaths – BBC News
At least 204 deaths have been linked to the misuse of anxiety drug Xanax in the UK since 2015, figures seen by the BBC’s Victoria Derbyshire programme reveal.

The US said it has hit “dozens” of Iranian military targets in overnight attacks, in response to Iran hitting commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz.
The military said it struck “air-defense systems, coastal radar sites, missile and drone capabilities, and small boats”, using aircraft, ships, and drones – including “one-way attack sea drones for the first time”.
“The Strait of Hormuz is a vital maritime corridor for global trade,” the US military said. “Iran does not control it”.
In response, Iran said it targeted US bases in Jordan, Bahrain, and Kuwait and also radar systems in Oman.

President Donald Trump has said the US is reinstating a naval blockade of Iranian ports and will impose a 20% charge on all cargo shipped through the Strait of Hormuz following days of escalating strikes between the two countries.
He said this would stop “Iran’s ships or customers” from entering or leaving the key oil shipping route, but “all other countries will have fair and open use of the Strait”.
Iran’s foreign minister later said whoever provides safe passage “should be compensated for this service”, but Iran would remain the strait’s “GUARDIAN” – using Trump’s word.
Tehran and Washington clashed over the strait’s control after exchanging strikes in the region overnight and on Monday.
The US said it carried out strikes against military targets in Iran, targeting air defence systems, coastal radars, and missile and drone sites. Iran said it responded by striking US military bases in Kuwait, Jordan and Bahrain, and radars in Oman.

Explosions have been heard near two Iranian port cities, Bandar Abbas and Bushehr, state media has reported.
It comes after another night of strikes between the US and Iran, with Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps saying it hit two UAE tankers in the Strait of Hormuz and targeted US facilities in Jordan and Bahrain.
The UAE called the attack “brazen”, adding that an Indian crew member was killed and eight others were injured.
Meanwhile, the US military says it completed strikes on targets aimed at degrading “Iran’s ability to attack commercial shipping” – Iranian state media reports three people were killed.

The US military said it was carrying out a new wave of strikes on targets in Iran. It said the aim of the attacks was to degrade Iran’s ability to attack shipping in the strait of Hormuz. It came ass the US Navy resumed its blockade of Iran’s ports.
Iran said that control of the strait of Hormuz was required for its national security and it will exercise sovereignty over the key shipping lane, whatever the cost.
President Trump announced that he was scrapping a plan he had announced a day earlier, for placing a 20% toll or tariff on all cargos passing through the strait of Hormuz.

Dying from counterfeit Xanax is not the same as dying from the actual drug itself. I have been taking prescribed Xanax for more than 10 years. I have never abused it. Have never taken more than 1mg and only took 1.5 mg when my brother died and that was only for a few days. I mostly keep it at .50mg or less. I have some mental illness disorders and only go up when I feel I'm going to lose it, but I make sure I go back down; never up. How much Xanax/ how many mg are these people using. 20 pills of how many mg? What else are they putting in their system?

Funny thing I actually tried to overdose on it intentionally by taking 50 mg diazepam but back then my liver was fast so it didn't cause toxicity.
But nowadays I'm less tolerant and prolly 5mg clonazepam might do the trick

You don’t even need to go on the dark web, it’s easy to get online! But if gp’s could prescribe it properly it would be managed better. The problem is drinking when taking it. And you can’t just stop, that’s more dangerous. And Xanax doesn’t make you high it’s like a benzodiazepine.

“They’re not working don’t worry mum” that is what benzos do, they give you delusions of sobriety, in your mind you are completely sober but from other peoples view you’re dribbling and slurring. The high of benzos is really a lack of a high and a lack of emotion.

I have taken Xanax AS PRESCRIBED for ten years. I have never had to increase my dosage or buy off of the street. These are people that have abused the drug, they are not people that use it responsibly.

I can understand it if people get addicted 'accidentally' from an official prescription (although private prescriptions can be dodgy). I have no sympathy, whatsoever, for people that take any drugs recreationally., and that includes Alcohol and Tobacco.
I feel the same about people that have elective cosmetic surgery.

A bit disingenuous to label counterfeit drugs 'xanax' deaths. If someone dies drinking rubbing alcohol, you wouldn't say they died from drinking. If someone died from K2, you wouldn't say they died from a marijuana overdose.

Been taking Xanax everyday for 20 years. It's harmless in small doses. I have Tourettes Syndrome so it helps calm me down and suppress my tics. Dark web, illegal Xanax is mixed with Fentanyl, DO NOT TOUCH IT!

Its crazy most pressed xanax bars nowadays are made with research checmical benzos like clonazolam, or flubromazolam that are over 20x the strength of xanax. U can be blacked out for multiple days or even a week

Ive never seen another drug that has as many functioning drug addicts as xanax does. So many people are completly addicted to this and you would have no idea they even use drugs at all. Its a drug that u can be nearly blacked out from, and in many instances seem completly sober to the people around you. Theres not many drugs like that. Its a sad addiction.

Benzos are weird there not addictive because if the high. There addictive because they get rid of your problems. Hands down opiates are the most euphoric, but i csn take or leave opiates. Benzos on the other hand get you stuck. If ypu dont get your dose, you dont just get sick, you get seizures. Opiates are dangerous when you use them, benzos are dangerous coming off.

I would never buy them off the streets. Im prescribed xanax and zopiclone, and I only take them when I need them. I dont drink much so if iv had a stress free week Il take say 4mg xanax and 15mg zopiclone on Saturday evening at home watching netflix.

Ifnirnprescribed your okay and you taking my doctor tells you you don't take the whole to borrow you. Take a f**** 0.5 throughout the whole day. You take a 0.5 in the morning and when you having a lady attack you take another 0.5 and before you go to bed take 0.5 then you have a 0.5 in the morning cuz people are abusing them and they're not going to wear a doctor. I haven't been on health issues. I have my whole life but rest in peace man

The guy asking ‘why don’t you just quit’ doesn’t understand the absolute hell withdrawal is. And it can last up to a year so you feel like it will never end and it can also kill you. I’ve experienced seizures from it myself. And even once it does end; you feel shittier than you did when you decided to take Xanax in the first place because all the issues you’ve repressed have just built up even more and not been dealt with. At least with most other drugs you go through a few months of withdrawals and then at least feel better. Theirs no such reward system with Xanax. I think we need a treatment for people recovering from Xanax that is different from other programs.

Xanax (Alprazolam) has an astonishing LD50 of 2171mg/per kilogram of body weight. An 80kg person would have to consume 19 full grams (19000mg) of that stuff to die. Thats literally mountains of pills. No Xanax doesnt kill people, mixing Xanax with Alcohol, Opiates and other drugs is what kills people.

Xanax took 2 friends from this world. Danny cox and one of my oldest friend's claire marsh. I am so gutted she is gone, i keep having images of us playing in our back lane. Claire was such a sweet human, i loved her heart. She was very special. R.i.p both danny and claire. I am heartbroken.
