UK PM Rishi Sunak tells Israel ‘we want you to win’ – BBC News
UK PM Rishi Sunak has met Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu in Tel Aviv.
The leaders met for talks on Thursday during Mr Sunak’s two-day visit to Israel.
The most serious escalation in the conflict in decades erupted on 7 October, when Hamas launched an attack on Israel, killing more than 1,400 people.
Israel is continuing to heavily bomb Gaza, and the health ministry in Gaza has said more than 3,700 people have been killed in Israeli strikes.

Explosions have been heard near two Iranian port cities, Bandar Abbas and Bushehr, state media has reported.
It comes after another night of strikes between the US and Iran, with Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps saying it hit two UAE tankers in the Strait of Hormuz and targeted US facilities in Jordan and Bahrain.
The UAE called the attack “brazen”, adding that an Indian crew member was killed and eight others were injured.
Meanwhile, the US military says it completed strikes on targets aimed at degrading “Iran’s ability to attack commercial shipping” – Iranian state media reports three people were killed.

The US military said it was carrying out a new wave of strikes on targets in Iran. It said the aim of the attacks was to degrade Iran’s ability to attack shipping in the strait of Hormuz. It came ass the US Navy resumed its blockade of Iran’s ports.
Iran said that control of the strait of Hormuz was required for its national security and it will exercise sovereignty over the key shipping lane, whatever the cost.
President Trump announced that he was scrapping a plan he had announced a day earlier, for placing a 20% toll or tariff on all cargos passing through the strait of Hormuz.

President Donald Trump has reversed his threat of a 20% fee on all Strait of Hormuz cargo shipping, as the US battles to break Iran’s hold on the waterway.
He said the toll would be replaced by trade and investment deals with Gulf states, just hours before the US resumes a blockade of Iranian ports.
It follows renewed strikes between the US and Iran, which triggered a sharp rise in oil prices as tanker traffic through the Strait has virtually stalled.

Forzado a elegir entre esta lealtad y la que le debe al código de su religión y a su profeta, el musulmán devoto no tardará ni un segundo en decidirse. De hecho, ya ha dejado clara su elección. Los musulmanes declaran sin rebozo ante el mundo entero que, de persistir en su actitud, los ministros británicos y la nación británica ya no podrán contar con la lealtad del Islam.El resto del pueblo indio tiene, pues, que preguntarse si está dispuesto a solidari- zarse con sus compatriotas musulmanes. En caso de estarlo, dispone hoy de una oportunidad extraordinaria, que no volverá a presentarse en un siglo, para mani- festar su amistad y demostrar lo que lleva tantos años diciendo: que el musulmán y el hindú son hermanos. Sostengo que […] a menos que los gobernantes británicos reconozcan nuestra dignidad, nos será imposible tener con ellos una relación amistosa. Me atrevo pues a proponer la no colaboración [con las autoridades], un método bello e irreprochable.
Se ha objetado que es inconstitucional. Niego que lo sea: al contrario,creo que la no colaboración es un principio justo y sagrado, un derecho inherente a todo ser humano,
y que es plenamente constitucional. […] No diría lo mismo de la insurrección. entendida en el sentido habitual: la lucha violenta por la justicia. He recordado una y otra vez a mis compatriotas que la violencia quizá sea útil en Europa, pero nunca servirá de nada en la India.
