It seems pretty much a certainty that Andy Burnham will be the next British prime minister. Exactly when it happens depends on a few factors. We outline some of the reasons an early general election is likely.

Bercow was, in my opinion, an outstanding, courageous and reforming Speaker. I particularly admire how he overcame two attempts by the Government to unseat him in a dirty, underhanded way – he had the last laugh on that duplicitous swill.

They will all say they are impartial, but none will be. Thats how politics work now, on both sides of any pond. Does it not make more sense to have a speaker that is NOT a current standing member of either party? (This coming from someone who is not in politics and only knows the british gov by watching these TLDR videos)

As a foreigner who has had a great interest in the live sessions from the House of Commons over the Brexit years, I will say that the Bercow will be missed in the speaker's seat. I cannot speak to how fair he might have been, or his role in keeping with the political standard that dictates GB politics. But his energy, mastery of language, and all-throughout character leaves behind a void that will be hard to fill to completion. I think he has done an all-together admirable and venerable job in his role, and history should remember him so.
