The move comes after his series of measures to tackle the housing crisis was defeated in parliament on Friday.
Those measures were drafted after nationwide protests, triggered by the eviction of an 87-year-old from her home for failing to pay a sharp rent increase.
SĂĄnchez has been Spain’s prime minister since 2018 and the country was not due to hold a general election until summer 2027.

Some protests over the past week in France have turned violent, as protesters and authorities clashed.

Could magic mushrooms be made available on the NHS? | BBC News
Brits seeking mental health support are travelling overseas for psychedelic therapy.
The treatments involve substances such as psilocybin and ayahuasca, both of which are illegal under UK law.
At the same time, researchers are conducting clinical trials to investigate whether something similar could have a place here.
While campaigners argue the treatments could transform care, further evidence is needed and significant regulatory hurdles remain.
