Reform UK Chairman Lee Anderson MP delivers a scathing verdict on Britain’s incoming Prime Minister, Andy Burnham, arguing that any early surge in public support will be short-lived. Rejecting claims of a “Burnham bounce,” Anderson claims the country is simply witnessing “a new circus in town, but the same clowns are performing,” as Burnham prepares to enter Downing Street. He also renews Reform UK’s call for a general election, insisting the public should have the opportunity to decide the country’s future.
Anderson gives a damning assessment of Burnham’s political record and predicts that the new Prime Minister “will be worse than Starmer.” With Burnham set to become Britain’s seventh Prime Minister in just ten years, Anderson argues that changing the person at the top will not solve the deeper problems facing the country. He questions whether Labour’s leadership change represents genuine reform or simply more of the same under a different name.
Anderson criticises the Labour government over reports that backbench MPs are seeking to water down Justice Secretary Shabana Mahmood’s proposed immigration reforms. Claiming ministers are “not listening to people,” he argues that voters are demanding stronger action on border security and immigration. Watch the full interview to hear Lee Anderson’s views on the new Prime Minister, Labour’s agenda, and why Reform UK believes Britain needs a general election.

BREAKING: Andy Burnham lays down gauntlet to Labour: ‘We’ve not been good enough’
Andy Burnham has issued a challenge to Labour MPs, admitting in his first speech as Prime Minister that the Government’s performance so far “has not been good enough.”
Delivering his remarks outside No. 10 without the traditional podium, the Makerfield MP described the moment as “a time for reflection and renewed resolve,” arguing that Britain must restore political stability.
Unveiling his 10-year vision for the country, Burnham said: “I have just come from Buckingham Palace where I have accepted His Majesty the King’s invitation to form a Government.
“In doing so, I am acutely conscious that I am the sixth person in the last 10 years to walk up this street, the seventh prime minister since 2016, making this a moment for reflection and new resolution.
“It requires my generation of politicians to raise our game and rise to the new challenge.
“Britain needs to show the world that we can regain our stability once again and that is our challenge to make politics work, to make it work better.
“I know people at home are fed up with politics. I hear you, and I want to be honest with you. We have not been good enough and we need to be better. We will be.
“We will make this moment a circuit breaker for Britain, bringing forward the biggest changes in the last 40 years. A new political model and a new economic model.”

Reform UK’s Treasury Spokesperson Robert Jenrick MP has issued a stark warning over the economic direction of Andy Burnham’s new Labour government, claiming that tax rises are inevitable despite the administration’s decision to scrap VAT on household energy bills. Jenrick argues that while cutting VAT may prove popular with voters, the government will ultimately have to find billions of pounds elsewhere to fund its spending commitments, particularly as John Healey takes over as Chancellor and faces mounting pressure over the public finances.
In this discussion, Jenrick reacts to a series of major developments surrounding the new government, including John Healey’s appointment as Chancellor, reports that Labour could increase foreign aid spending, and the appointment of Miatta Fahnbulleh as Energy Secretary. He also criticises Labour’s approach to Net Zero, claiming the government’s energy agenda is even more ambitious than previous policies. Throughout the interview, Jenrick sets out why he believes the government’s current economic plans are unsustainable and predicts that higher taxes will be the unavoidable consequence.
Miriam Cates also challenges Robert Jenrick on Reform UK’s own economic proposals, questioning whether his party can realistically promise tax cuts while criticising Labour’s fiscal plans. The debate covers taxation, defence spending, energy policy, foreign aid, and the wider economic outlook under Andy Burnham’s government.
