BREAKING: Rachel Reeves and David Lammy OUT of Andy Burnham’s Government as shake-up begins

Published

on

Rachel Reeves has announced she is stepping down as Chancellor, describing it as “the privilege of my life” to serve in the role.

In her resignation letter, she said the Labour government had restored stability, delivered investment and begun economic reform, adding that she was proud of the impact on working people and hoped her time in office would inspire future generations. Reeves also pledged her full support to Prime Minister Andy Burnham and his successor, who is widely expected to be Shabana Mahmood.

David Lammy has also confirmed he is leaving the government as part of Andy Burnham’s reshuffle. In a statement, Lammy said he would have been proud to continue serving but accepted the Prime Minister’s right to build his own team. Reflecting on his time in government, he highlighted work on foreign policy, justice reform, investment in the courts and prisons, and support for Ukraine, before confirming he will continue as Labour MP for Tottenham from the backbenches.

Donald Trump has bragged to the United Nations about his success as President of the United States.

Speaking at the UN General Assembly in New York, the President boasted about how he acted on threats whilst other leaders only spoke.

He said: “I do not believe in letting problems fester. They only become harder to solve. So while others have talked, I have acted. While others have spoken of peace, I have made peace. While others have ignored threats, I have confronted them. While others have talked of courage, America has shown it. While others have promised strength, I have used it to make America the most powerful country in the world.”

Andy Burnham condemns “racist” comments exposed in undercover investigation

Published

Andy Burnham says Reform UK must take “immediate and firm action” after an undercover ITV investigation recorded some of its councillors and candidates appearing to use racist, sexist, and violent language.

The programme included a Reform councillor describing Asian homeowners as “parasites”, while other figures were recorded allegedly making offensive comments about ethnic minorities.

Reform says everyone filmed is under investigation and that some have already resigned or been suspended.

The party says there is “no room for racism” within Reform UK.

Andy Burnham says all parties need to draw a clear line against all forms of discrimination.
