Ukraine’s cyber security war with Russia – BBC News
As Ukraine battles Russian troops on the ground there’s another battle happening online.
Ukraine’s cyber security authority says the cyber conflict with Russia is unprecedented and has described it as the world’s first hybrid war.
BBC News talked to Alex Bornyakov, Ukraine’s Deputy Minister of Digital Transformation about how the war is being waged online.
Hacking is also being carried out against Ukraine by people sympathetic to Russia, but currently Russia seems to be coming off worse.
Its crack military hackers appear, so far, to have not played a major role, for reasons that are unclear.

US hits ‘dozens’ of Iranian sites in strikes, as Iran targets US bases in region | BBC News
The US said it has hit “dozens” of Iranian military targets in overnight attacks, in response to Iran hitting commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz.
The military said it struck “air-defense systems, coastal radar sites, missile and drone capabilities, and small boats”, using aircraft, ships, and drones – including “one-way attack sea drones for the first time”.
“The Strait of Hormuz is a vital maritime corridor for global trade,” the US military said. “Iran does not control it”.
In response, Iran said it targeted US bases in Jordan, Bahrain, and Kuwait and also radar systems in Oman.

Trump demands 20% toll on cargos passing through strait of Hormuz | BBC News
President Donald Trump has said the US is reinstating a naval blockade of Iranian ports and will impose a 20% charge on all cargo shipped through the Strait of Hormuz following days of escalating strikes between the two countries.
He said this would stop “Iran’s ships or customers” from entering or leaving the key oil shipping route, but “all other countries will have fair and open use of the Strait”.
Iran’s foreign minister later said whoever provides safe passage “should be compensated for this service”, but Iran would remain the strait’s “GUARDIAN” – using Trump’s word.
Tehran and Washington clashed over the strait’s control after exchanging strikes in the region overnight and on Monday.
The US said it carried out strikes against military targets in Iran, targeting air defence systems, coastal radars, and missile and drone sites. Iran said it responded by striking US military bases in Kuwait, Jordan and Bahrain, and radars in Oman.

New explosions near Iranian port cities, says state media | BBC News
Explosions have been heard near two Iranian port cities, Bandar Abbas and Bushehr, state media has reported.

The UAE called the attack “brazen”, adding that an Indian crew member was killed and eight others were injured.
Meanwhile, the US military says it completed strikes on targets aimed at degrading “Iran’s ability to attack commercial shipping” – Iranian state media reports three people were killed.

US launches more strikes on Iran and resumes naval blockade of ports | BBC News
The US military said it was carrying out a new wave of strikes on targets in Iran. It said the aim of the attacks was to degrade Iran’s ability to attack shipping in the strait of Hormuz. It came ass the US Navy resumed its blockade of Iran’s ports.
Iran said that control of the strait of Hormuz was required for its national security and it will exercise sovereignty over the key shipping lane, whatever the cost.
President Trump announced that he was scrapping a plan he had announced a day earlier, for placing a 20% toll or tariff on all cargos passing through the strait of Hormuz.

Neo-Nazi threat in new Ukraine: NEWSNIGHT https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5SBo0akeDMY what is changed since 2014
The war in Donbas,[note 1] or the Donbas War, is an armed conflict in the Donbas region of Ukraine, part of the broader Russo-Ukrainian War. In March 2014, immediately following the Euromaidan protest movement and subsequent Revolution of Dignity, protests by pro-Russian, anti-government separatist groups took place in the Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts of Ukraine, collectively called the Donbas. These demonstrations began around the same time as Russia's annexation of Crimea, and were part of wider pro-Russian protests across southern and eastern Ukraine. Declaring the Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics (DPR and LPR, respectively), armed Russian-backed separatist groups seized government buildings throughout the Donbas, leading to armed conflict with the Ukrainian government forces.[31]
While the initial protests were largely native expressions of discontent with the new Ukrainian government, Russia took advantage of them to launch a coordinated political and military campaign against Ukraine.[32] Russian citizens led the separatist movement in Donetsk from April until August 2014, and were supported by volunteers and materiel from Russia.[33][34][35] As the conflict escalated in May 2014, Russia employed a "hybrid approach", deploying a combination of disinformation, irregular fighters, regular Russian troops, and conventional military support to destabilize the Donbas.[36][37][38]
Ukraine launched a military counter-offensive against pro-Russian forces in April 2014, called the "Anti-Terrorist Operation" (ATO) from 2014 until 2018, when it was renamed the "Joint Forces Operation" (JFO).[39]: 4 [40] By late August 2014, this operation was able to vastly shrink the territory under the control of pro-Russian forces and came close to regaining control of the Russia–Ukraine border.[41] In response, Russia abandoned its hybrid approach and began a conventional invasion of the Donbas.[41][42] Following reports of Ukrainian positions being shelled from the Russian side of the border, between 22 and 25 August 2014, Russian artillery, personnel, and what Russia called a "humanitarian convoy" crossed the border. Russian crossings reportedly occurred both in areas that were controlled by pro-Russian forces and those that were not, such as the south-eastern part of Donetsk Oblast, near Novoazovsk.[43][44] Head of the Security Service of Ukraine, Valentyn Nalyvaichenko, called the events of 22 August a "direct invasion by Russia of Ukraine",[45] while other Western and Ukrainian officials called it a Russian "stealth invasion".[44] Russia's official position on the presence of Russian forces in Donbas has been vague; while official bodies have denied the presence of "regular armed forces" in Ukraine, it has on many occasions confirmed the presence of "military specialists", along with other euphemisms, usually accompanied by an argument that Russia "was forced" to deploy them to "defend the Russian-speaking population."[46][47]
As a result of the Russian invasion, DPR and LPR insurgents regained much of the territory they had lost during the Ukrainian government's preceding military offensive.[39] Ukraine, Russia, the DPR and the LPR signed a ceasefire agreement, the Minsk Protocol, on 5 September 2014.[48] Violations of the ceasefire on both sides became common. Amidst the solidification of the line between insurgent and government-controlled territory during the ceasefire, warlords took control of swaths of land on the insurgent side, leading to further destabilisation.[49] The ceasefire collapsed in January 2015, with renewed heavy fighting across the conflict zone, including at Donetsk International Airport and at Debaltseve. Involved parties agreed to a new ceasefire, called Minsk II, on 12 February 2015. Immediately following the signing of the agreement, separatist forces launched an offensive on Debaltseve and forced Ukrainian forces to withdraw from it. In the months after the fall of Debaltseve, minor skirmishes continued along the line of contact, but no territorial changes occurred. The stalemate led to the war being labelled a "frozen conflict".[50] Despite this, the area remained a war zone, with dozens of soldiers and civilians killed each month.[51] In 2017, on average one Ukrainian soldier died in combat every three days,[52] with an estimated 6,000 Russian and 40,000 separatist troops in the region.[53][54] By the end of 2017, the OSCE observatory mission had counted around 30,000 individuals in military gear crossing from Russia to Donbas at the two border checkpoints it was allowed to monitor.[55] The OSCE has also documented many cases of military convoys crossing from Russia into the occupied Donbas on dirt roads, away from official border crossings and usually at night.[56]
Since the start of the conflict there have been 29 ceasefires, each intended to remain in force indefinitely, but none of them have stopped the violence.[57][58][59] The most successful attempt to halt the fighting was in 2016, when a ceasefire was held for six weeks.[59] Ukraine, Russia, the DPR, the LPR and the OSCE agreed to a roadmap for ending the conflict on 1 October 2019.[60] However, the conflict did not thaw since then and, by late summer 2020, remained unresolved.[61][57] The latest ceasefire (29th)[57] came into force on 27 July 2020, which led to no Ukrainian combat losses for more than a month.[62][63][57] According to Ukrainian authorities, from 27 July until 7 November 2020 Ukrainian losses dropped tenfold (three Ukrainian soldiers were killed) and the number of attacks dropped five-fold.[64] The first trimester of 2021 saw a large rise in Ukrainian fatalities (25, compared with 50 deaths in the whole of 2020) and the buildup of a large Russian military force on the Donbas-Russian border from late March to early April 2021 and from late October and November 2021 onwards.[65]
Russia officially recognized the DPR and LPR on 21 February 2022, and on 24 February launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

Ukraine made war 8 years ago. Ukraine bombed Donbass, killed children. in the Donbass there is an alley of angels, where children were buried whose children were killed by Ukrainian soldiers with bombs on a children's beach. For 8 years, Ukrainian soldiers have been killing children and raping and killing women. There is a movie that was made 6 years ago with English subtitles. the people of Donbass wanted the world to see. they wanted the world to know. that they are being killed. but no one heard their tears and cries. The film is called "enemy at the gate" look.

Dear journalists, why do you present information only from one side? Why are you silent about the crimes of the Ukrainian military? Why is neither the media in Europe nor in the United States talking about the terrorist attack of the Ukrainian military on March 14?
A projectile "Point U" with a cluster charge was fired into the center of Donetsk. DNR troops shot it down, but debris and metal parts from cluster shells killed more than 20 people. It was the center of the city, a busy roadway. There are no military facilities there.
What is it called? Or, for some time now, not everyone has the right to life? Why doesn't anyone say that people in Donbass have been killed for eight years already? Why is it not said that Ukraine started massive shelling of the territories of the DPR and LPR back in mid-February? Although a truce was declared? Why weren't sanctions imposed on Ukraine when it refused to comply with the Minsk agreements, allowing it to continue killing people? Did everything suit you? Are these your "democratic" values? Or does this information simply not fit into the picture of the world you need? Aren't journalists supposed to tell people the truth? Shouldn't the UN protect human rights? Then why is this happening?
Is there a bloodthirsty monster hiding behind the mask of kindness? Who is for the world, but only where he needs. And where war is needed, let there be war. I do not believe in your sincerity for a long time. You are deceitful and hypocritical! Would you have come out in defense of the people in the Donbas if Russia had not stood up for us? You would silently watch how people are killed! Since you have been doing all these eight years! From Donetsk.

Sanctions against Russia are a joke! Same as when South Africa had to fight the whole Russian Warsaw pact, Cuba, and others, and their western buddies in the Angolan War.
