Coronavirus: More than 11,000 deaths in care homes – BBC News

Published

on

More than 11,600 people have died from coronavirus in care homes across the UK since the start of the pandemic, figures suggest.

But for the second week running, the review of death certificates by statisticians showed the number of new deaths has fallen.

In the week to 8 May, there were 1,940 care home deaths linked to coronavirus – down from 2,800 the week before.

Overall, care home deaths account for over a quarter of the virus fatalities.

Real soon people will follow the money👈 elderly costs government 10,000 a month for 1 person. If the state happens to have 1000 people die in state run homes. How much money do you think the saved THEMSELVES per month?🤔

Deaths in don't care home's have dropped in the last 2 weeks – that's because there's finite number in there and they are already dead or dying from the Virus so the total number of people in the don't care home's are less at a start of a new week and so on not rocket science BBC

Protests are happening right now across the UK and the rest of the world, clearly there are lot of people here in the comments section who don't believe the narrative, but we need to join in these protests and fight back against the police who are arresting and and assaulting unarmed civilians like tyrants, the more of us there are the more we can do to end this oppressive regime, don't be afraid of being labelled a conspiracy theorist or a crazy person, they are just words, people can believe what they want, it's time to take action and create a new society that works for all of us and our children, never forget that we are the majority, it's time to take a stand against tyranny, who is with me?

    FACTS:

    – There are over 18K Care Homes in the UK.

    – New Age UK estimated 74K Care Home deaths across 30 months during 2017-19. On average: 2500 deaths per month, and 15 deaths per residence.

    – The first UK Covid-19 related death was registered in early March, 2020

    – 11K Care Home deaths throughout March-May, 2020. On average: 3650 deaths per month, and 20 deaths per residence.

    – On average: an increase of 1150 deaths per month, and 5 deaths per Care Home residence across the UK throughout March-May, 2020 when compared to a 30 month spell during 2017-2019.

Ergo, an intellectually honest title for this particular video should be, "An increase of 3500 Care Home deaths since the first Covid-19 related death in March, 2020"

That's one third of the original number being reported by the BBC…

Focusing on the most vulnerable people first would better serve the NHS instead of trying to protect everyone including all those that never needed protecting.

By protecting those that never needed protecting in the first place has actually put them at risk health wise and financially by putting unnecessary tension and burdens on them all.

Clearly those in charge of focusing on the problem have spread themselves out too thin and have not separated those in need to those that don't need protecting.

By putting those recovering from this virus in to care homes just proves that their is no vision of what is right or wrong only actions that are creating a vicious circle for all that has to stop.

While let's no forget killing the economy too.

  38. @TheNovelty8theory

    December 30, 2023 at 10:29 pm

If you reported on every death in care homes across the country you would see a lot of deaths because unfortunately most of these people are very frail and have many underlying health problems. Couple that with locking these poor people down and isolating them from friends, family, neighbours and necessary medical care you will result in many of these people dying. Which I believe was the plan all along. Sick, sick agenda.

When this government have been in control, with all the resources of the state available since the general election late last year, who else is there to blame except Boris Johnson ? They have failed , and are still failing , in their prime duty to protect the population.
We have in 3 months, the same death toll as the civilian death toll in 6 years of WW2 . King Boris is Churchill not.

In SA, a fairly large number of people/staff at various police stations, Checkers (food) and Woolworths (mostly food) were found to have the virus when they were tested; what is alarming is that they weren't sick enough to stay at home, and most seemingly didn't know they had the virus, so they could unwittingly pass it on to other more vulnerable people/groups. Perhaps all staff in care homes and other places should be tested for the virus? The temperature test is not enough: from what one can gather, presymptomatic people may have a raised temperature, but asymptomatic people may show no signs whatsoever. One can search for relevant articles on what is happening in SA.

Counter terrorism police now leading investigation into Ann Widdecombe’s death | BBC News

Published

on

Counter terrorism police are now leading the investigation into the death of former Conservative minister Ann Widdecombe, after “new information and evidence has come to light”, Counter Terrorism Policing South East (CTPSE) has said.

“The police are pursuing multiple lines of enquiry to establish the motivation for this attack. I will be updating the House further this afternoon,” Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood said.

A 28-year-old white British man from Rotherham, South Yorkshire, was originally arrested on suspicion of murder on Saturday but has now been re-arrested “on suspicion of commission, preparation or instigation of acts of terrorism”, CTPSE said.

Police said the “dynamic and complex investigation” had led to the new arrest.

On Thursday, 78-year-old Widdecombe was found dead at her home in Haytor, Devon, having sustained serious injuries.

Sir Keir Starmer is fighting to stay on as prime minister as the pressure mounts | BBC News

Published

on

Three members of his government, including Home Office minister Jess Phillips, have resigned, whilst scores of Labour MPs are calling for him to quit following a disastrous set of elections for the party last week.

Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood is among a number of cabinet ministers urging the prime minister to set out a departure timetable.

Sir Keir said he does not intend to quit and threw down the gauntlet to potential rivals to formally challenge him as Labour leader.

No MP has yet launched a formal bid to challenge him, which requires the backing of 81 colleagues or 20% of Labour MPs, according to party rules.

US hits ‘dozens’ of Iranian sites in strikes, as Iran targets US bases in region | BBC News

Published

on

The US said it has hit “dozens” of Iranian military targets in overnight attacks, in response to Iran hitting commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz.

The military said it struck “air-defense systems, coastal radar sites, missile and drone capabilities, and small boats”, using aircraft, ships, and drones – including “one-way attack sea drones for the first time”.

“The Strait of Hormuz is a vital maritime corridor for global trade,” the US military said. “Iran does not control it”.

In response, Iran said it targeted US bases in Jordan, Bahrain, and Kuwait and also radar systems in Oman.

Trump demands 20% toll on cargos passing through strait of Hormuz | BBC News

Published

on

President Donald Trump has said the US is reinstating a naval blockade of Iranian ports and will impose a 20% charge on all cargo shipped through the Strait of Hormuz following days of escalating strikes between the two countries.

He said this would stop “Iran’s ships or customers” from entering or leaving the key oil shipping route, but “all other countries will have fair and open use of the Strait”.

Iran’s foreign minister later said whoever provides safe passage “should be compensated for this service”, but Iran would remain the strait’s “GUARDIAN” – using Trump’s word.

Tehran and Washington clashed over the strait’s control after exchanging strikes in the region overnight and on Monday.

The US said it carried out strikes against military targets in Iran, targeting air defence systems, coastal radars, and missile and drone sites. Iran said it responded by striking US military bases in Kuwait, Jordan and Bahrain, and radars in Oman.
