Rallies for Iran’s revolution overshadowed by discontent and defiance | BBC News
Mass pro-government rallies have been staged in Iran, as the country marked 47 years since the Islamic Revolution.
It comes weeks after the regime killed thousands of anti-government protestors.
Addressing crowds, President Masoud Pezeshkian denounced Iran’s enemies, but also apologised for failings by the government, saying “we are ready to listen to the voice of the people”.
The BBC’s chief international correspondent Lyse Doucet is reporting from Tehran on condition that none of her material is used on the BBC’s Persian Service. These restrictions apply to all international media organisations operating in Iran.

The dark side of K-Pop clubs – BBC News
South Korea’s pop industry has emerged as a global phenomenon in recent years, but it was hit at home in recent months.
A string of charges, from sexual assaults on women to drug distribution, has triggered police investigations around some of the most popular-pop stars. Seoul’s flashy clubs are at the heart of the controversy as main locations for illegal activities.
The BBC has been following the scandal that hit the multi-billion dollar industry, and gained rare access to stories of abuse in South Korean clubs.

Europe wildfires: France warns of worst crisis “since WW2” as new heatwave looms | BBC News
More than 360,000 people have been evacuated across France and Spain as unprecedented wildfires continue to spread.
The French President Emmanuel Macron held crisis talks and said his country was facing its most difficult situation since the Second World War.
Firefighters are still struggling to control the fires, as a new heatwave is forecast to bring further hot, dry conditions that could help fuel the blaze.
The authorities are warning that a major fire which is now just 9 miles from Bordeaux could continue to burn for months.
In Spain, more than 60,000 people have been forced to flee their homes near the capital Madrid.
Fiona Bruce presents BBC News at Ten reporting by Gwyn Loader, Justin Rowlatt and Mark Lowen.

US military launches strikes against Iran to “further degrade” capabilities | BBC News
The US military says it launched another round of strikes against Iran to “further degrade” its capabilities to attack ships in the Strait of Hormuz.
The strikes – the 10th consecutive night of attacks – come after US President Donald Trump vowed to punish Iran for the deaths of US soldiers.
In response, Iran said it struck two oil tankers in the waterway, as well as US military assets in Bahrain, Kuwait and Jordan, state news agency IRNA reported.
President Masoud Pezeshkian said Iran was now fighting a “full-scale war” with the US. Trump earlier said Iran had been hit “very hard” the previous night “in honour” of three US soldiers killed recently – two in Jordan and one in Iraq.
US Central Command (Centcom) said its latest strikes had hit Iranian “military command centres, maritime capabilities, missile and drone launch sites, and air defence systems”.
